Adam was still in the bathroom poking and prodding his face when he heard a phone ringing. He walked out and found the ringing was coming from his dad's cell phone which was charging on the nightstand. He picked it up and saw that the caller I.D. read "Home." Adam's heart started racing and his palms started sweating. He didn't know what to expect or how to react. He slid the 'answer' button across the screen and brought it up to his ear.
"Uh... hu-hello?" he stuttered.
"Adam? Adam is that you?!" a familiar voice cried on the other side.
"Dad?!"
"Adam what the hell just happened?! One moment I'm sitting down in my hotel room after closing the final deal of the conference and the next I'm back home, in the dining room and I'm- and I'm- I'm you!!" Brian yelled into the phone, his new voice cracking and breaking.
"I uh- I have no idea what happened, Dad," Adam decided to feign ignorance. His dad sounded beyond mad, although he didn't sound nearly as intimidating now thaf he had Adam's pitchy, teenaged voice. Adam heard a door close on the other side of the line.
"Oh shit," Brian whispered, "I think your mother's home. We'll have to talk later, son."
Adam was left confused and a little bit scared. He hoped his dad wouldn't find the note that'd come with the ring or he'd figure out that this whole thing was Adam's fault. Well, it was only sort of his fault, Adam hadn't meant to switch bodies with Brian, it'd been a freak accident. All the stress aroused a craving in Adam that he'd never felt before. It was like an itchying in his lungs and a hunger for a taste he couldn't recognize. Adam started rummging through the room not knowing what he was looking for. When he opened a drawer and found a box of cigarettes and a lighter something in him clicked. He wanted a smoke. Or, maybe his dad's body wanted to smoke? Adam didn't care. He grabbed the two and walked over to the open window, and almost as if he were on autopilot he took out a cigarette, lit it, and took a long drag. Immediately he felt relief, his mind cleared, and he started trying to find a way out of this fiasco.
