Nate walked through the cool night air, the backyard dimly lit by the full moon above as he tried to spot the source of the noise they heard. He shook his head at Damon's suggestion to split up and couldn't believe he went along with it. He'd seen enough horror movies to know that was always a stupid mistake. He gripped the baseball bat tightly as he made his way across the yard. He heart was beating hard in his chest as he was on edge. Still, he was ready for whatever was in the night, or so he thought.
He heard the beast's paws against the dew covered ground in it's run up to him but did not have a chance to react as the monster tackled him to the ground. Nate screamed in terror as the monster sunk it's large fangs into his arm. He screamed as the beast shook him back and forth. Nate grabbed the bat and started hitting the monster repeatedly until it let go and left. Nate rolled back and forth on the ground, quietly sobbing as the searing pain radiated throughout his body. He watched the monster retreat back into the night, hoping Damon heard his screams.
