With no idea of where any civilization was, you picked a random direction and hoped for the best. After hours of walking, you reached a desert . In most cases you would have turned back and tried a new direction but you could clearly see what looked to be a town in the distance. Whether the town was deserted or not would have to be determined when you reached it. Putting your shield over top your head you started you long trek through the desert.
Miles later and your target was was only a few centimeters bigger. Not one to give, you were determined to reach the city you simply needed to rest your body after such a long trek through the shifting sands. Soon your quick rest turned into a deep sleep. When consciousness returned to you, your arms and legs were embedded in the sand while a strange cloaked individual was crouched next to me.
“May I cast a spell on you?”
You didn't answer because you were struggling to free your arms with a few more minutes they would be free.
“May I cast a spell on you?”
The strange individual asked again but this time she spoke in a much harsher voice. If you didn't distract her soon she wouldn't ask again.
“Why do you want to cast a spell on me?”
The question worked as the woman didn't ask again instead she seemed to be struggling with something.
“Why do you ask such an obvious question? I am a Sandwitch so my spell is to slowly turn you into one as well.”
There were many words in her explanation that did not help you calm down but your arms were almost free so you tried to keep it going without tipping her off to what you were doing.
“What’s a Sandwitch? I’m new here so I’ve never heard of one.”
“That seems obvious from such a stupid question.”
The witch then removed her hood and showed me her face. Like an angel, she was extremely beautiful with her blonde hair and long eyelashes but this angel was a demon in disguise. With you arms now free, you used your gloved free hand to disorient the woman with a quick strike to her face. With her now disoriented, you quickly uncover your lower body and unsheath your sword, ready to defend yourself.
The witch had gained her senses by the time you were ready and launched a blast of literal white fire towards you. Dodging to the left of the deadly attack, you charged your magically inclined opponent and produced the first blow by slicing through her body but instead of bisecting her like planned it instead passed through her like a knife through beef with only a minor drag stopping it. Once all the way through, not even the witch’s cloak was damaged but she looked to be extremely winded. Not wasting your chance to strike again, you attacked in hope of wearing out whatever magic was keeping her alive.
This time you went for a stab through her stomach before twisting the blade side upwards and pulling so causing her body to split in half before reattaching itself again. The attack seemed to do what it needed as the witch was now kneading on the ground. Careful in approaching her in case it was a trick to lure you then finish you off, you barely heard the woman speak in a strange language.
“Nuf erutuf rof riah ydnas, nus tresed eht sa ydnas,”
Realizing she had cast a spell of some sort you already felt a strange change coming over your hair as the tangled mess straightened itself and lighten in color till it was now a dusty blonde color that covered your eyes. Not wasting anymore time to let her speak another spell, you quickly cut off her head and finally killed her. Instead of slumping to the ground in a dead heap though she instead dissolved away till only a small white book was left. Picking up the book, you found the cover to be blank. The only thing left to do was open it.
“Hopefully this won’t kill me.”
Opening the book, you found it to be filled with unintelligible scrawl but slowly like a snake, the words rose from the page and nothing you did could stop it. Fully released now from their leather prison, the words slowly circled you. You had no time to prepare as the first word entered your eye with the next following closely behind with the next even closer than the last. Word after word entered until it finally stopped. When the experience was finally over, you realized that everything seemed much clearer now as new knowledge of the spell ‘Charge weapon’ entered your mind. Feeling stronger and even more determined, you set off after the distant city but not before picking up the gems that been left behind as well from the witch.
After hours of walking, the sun soon set but the threat of more Sandwitches kept you going at an even and steady pace thru the night. Finally by morning you could easily see the city gates being protected by what appeared 2 guards with one on horse back.
