The stewardess came and knocked on the door as the pilot announced the approach to Tokyo airport. "Sir, you will have to take your seat." There was something odd sounding in her voice, but Matt could not identify what was wrong. He sighed and answered "OK. Watashi wa sugu ni derudarou." He was already starting to open the door when he realized that his 'OK, I will be right out' had been spoken in Japanese. Oh, no! He looked in the mirror and gasped. The teen looking back at him was a shaggy-haired Japanese male, golden-skinned and dark-eyed. His body was leaner, and he seemed to be smaller, but his clothing had changed to fit.
Pulling his ticket out of his pocket, he saw it now showed his Japanese face and the name Kohei Uchimura - in Japanese characters that he could read easily. The waitress banged on the door again and said "Mr. Uchimura! You must take your seat now! We are landing. If you do not take your seat this instant I will report you to your coach!"
This was now all in Japanese, but Matt understood it as if she had spoken English. He scrambled out of the bathroom and hurried back to his seat, noting that all of the passengers were now Japanese. When he got back to his seat, he found a small duffel bag that must be his, with '41st World Artistic Gymnastics Championship - London' on it. Opening it, he found a white and red sports outfit with his name and the Japanese flag. There was also a Japanese passport. Opening it, he saw it was new, but dated 2009. There were stamps from London, also dated 2009. Huh? Not only had he changed into someone else, it was eight years in the past!
