"Now, we just need to figure out where to keep you," Barney said in a most unsettling off-handed manner to his nude, sixteen-year-old brother entrapped beneath a kitchen drinking glass.
"Keep me!" Jeff spluttered, his sense of outrage all out of proportion to his current size. Two years older than his brother, he'd never had any real reason for concern or fear, until now. "Barney, I'm serious. Change me back! Are you listening?"
"I have an idea!" Barney announced, blithely ignoring his shrunken sibling's protests.
Leaving Jeff to rave beneath the heavy drinking glass, Barney went in search of something in his large walk-in closet that took him out of view. Beneath the glass, Jeff continued to hear loud bangs and crashes as Barney rummaged through the contents of his closet.
When he finally came back into view, he held a bright yellow and blue plastic hamster habitat. "Ever since we lost Binky, I've been wondering what I could do with his old cage."
Jeff's jaw dropped open as he stared at the plastic habitat, which looked as big as a house to the diminished teenager. "You're not putting me into a cage!" Jeff declared stoutly in his shrill chipmunky voice.
A moment or so later, with a minimum of fuss, Barney had transferred Jeff from the temporary confinement beneath an ordinary drinking glass to the blue and yellow plastic confines of Binky's former hamster habitation.
Barney made some adjustments to the cage's location on his dresser, mostly tilting the angle to make it easier to enjoy any antics on the part of his new pet from the region of his bed.
"That should do just fine," Barney said in satisfaction as Jeff felt a growing unease as he stared through the confines of the plastic and metal cage.
