Nat was just about fed up with this stupid keytar that Terri girl planted on her. In every class it was stowed away in fear that she'd "distract the others" by trying to practice in class. If she argued any different, she was automaticly threatened to be sent to the principal's office.
"Stupid piece of junk, stupid Terri... why would I even be in her dumb band." Nat grumbled.
She glared at the cherry red instrument in her hands.
'I don't even know how to play one of these!' the tomboy tought.
But out of curiousity, Nat tapped a few keys... and the noise they made sounded.... good?
Nat pressed the keys again, and it sounded even better as guitar strumms joined the tune.
'You know, I sound amazing!' Nat thought as a smile spread across her face.
Nat realized that Terri was right next to her, playing along, but she didn't care. Not even about the annoying day she had. When she heard her keytar and Terri's guitar together, it felt like all her problems melted away. Nat could help but pop her hood down and pull her hairband out, letting her brunette hair hang freely as she began to really put some heart into it. Other people off the street stopped by to listen to the pair as they revved up a fiery tune full of powerful chords. By the time they stopped, the passersby clapped for the rocking duo.
"That was awesome!" Terri cheered.
"Thanks." replied Nat.
Terri smiled at her new bandmate's exuberance and said,
"Our Jam Sess is tonight at 8... if you're up for it."
"Dudeete, I'm there!" Nat said, not sure why she said "dudette".
The two fist bumped and parted ways.
At her room, Nat found some gifts from her new bandmates. From Terri, a couple "Terri and the Thrashers" t-shirts. From Marcy, a set of rock records and a record player. And from another rocker called "Spez", she got some sweet speakers.
"Man, I love these guys." Nat said to herself.
