Katie looked around the park and wondered who she would change in age. But then, she heard the sound of crying close by and turns to a bench nearby to see a young girl no more then six weeping over something. She was wearing a normal T-shirt, jeans, and a pair of girly sneakers and her blonde hair with two pigtails draped to both sides of her face. She had her hands on her knees and was silently crying to herself. Katie could see that something was troubling this girl and wondered what it was, so she slowly approached the bench and decided to speak to her, like the adult that she is.
By the time she approached her, she cleared her through and said, “Hey there, sweetie. Are you okay?”
By the time the girl heard her, she slowly looked up to her and showed her dark blue eyes and had tears streaming down her face. Sniffing, she responded with saying, “I’m fine… Just leave me alone!”
Katie could tell that something was up and decided to be with her. “By the sound of it, you don’t look fine. Mind if I sit next to you? You might need the company.”
The girl looked to this woman and was weary about talking to strangers. But she seems to be caring and wanted to keep her safe. So she silently nodded and let her speak to her for just a moment. Taking a seat next to the girl, Katie started to introduce herself.
“My name is Katie. What is yours?”
The girl looked up to her and said, “I’m Amy.”
“Tell me Amy,” Katie said, wanting to get down to business, “Why are you crying? You seem a little lost all around you. Where are your parents?”
Amy heard it and turned her head away, hearing the word, ‘family’. “I… I got lost…”
Katie heard that answer and was a little confused. “You got lost. What do you mean?”
Amy was silent until she continued explaining about what happened.
“I was with my family at a picnic in the park. But I saw a butterfly and started to chase after it. It was a long chase and it took me a long time to get it. When I got it though, and realized that I was far away from mommy and daddy and didn’t know where to go. I headed to the playground and started crying, scared that my family won’t find me.”
Katie heard that and couldn’t help but to feel sorry for her. Being an orphan before the discovery of the ring, and before she had a single mother in Kellie, she was only the lonely girl and didn’t get a break. It was then that she used the ring to make her self a sexy and athletic adult, with friends that used to be old women. Feeling sorry for Amy, she decided to stay with her until her family arrives. Though she has other plans for her with the ring on her finger.
“Well, if it’s all right with you, I’ll stay with you until your family finds you. The day is young and the park isn’t that big. I’m sure they’ll find you in no time.”
Amy turned to her and asked, “Really?”
“Sure thing. I don’t like it to see a lonely girl crying by herself. I’ll keep you company until they arrive.”
Amy was quiet for a brief second until she decided to stay with her. “Okay….” She said to her, “You can stay until mommy and daddy get here.”
Katie smiled and was delighted to be with her. “Good.” But then she rubbed her ring as it started to glow, marking that she’s making a wish to Amy. And giving that she’s a nice girl, she knew what to do. Deep in thought, she said in her mind…
‘I wish Amy here is the same age as me, with her clothes, mind, and reality altering to match her age. She will be unaware of the changes and is acting as if nothing has happened. Her changes will last an hour and her changes will be permanent, whether her family finds her or not. Also, as an added bonus, her future will alter the more she and I talks, so there will be many possibilities what the future is in store with her.”
The moment she made her wish, Amy felt the chill and rubbed her arms. Looking up to Katie, she asked her, “Katie, do you feel cold? It feels like I was freezing.”
Katie heard her and turned to see her getting cold, but shrugged it off and said, “It might be the breeze that got ya. This is early fall whether we’re talking about. It will go away.”
Amy could feel the cold in her body dissipating and was glad that she was chilly. By the time the changes started, Katie could see her growing a little bit, just an inch or two, but was a steady growth. As the growth started, Katie decided to speak to her to pass the time.
“So… Tell me about yourself. What do you plan to do in the future?”
Amy turned to her new friend and wonder what she meant by that. So she started to talk to her about what she wanted to do, while her body started to age. But what is she going to be…?
