I flutter my eyes as they adjust to the evening light filling the room. the room is empty, save or one other person: Jake, sitting back in one of the chairs, looking directly at me.
"nyaaaaaaaawn, good morning" I yawn, stretching cat like on the ground.
"its the afternoon you doofus." Jake chuckled.
"whats the difference", I stretch my back leg, releasing a few good audible pops.
"Uh, that school is over?"
"Oh yeah" my reflexes act on their own pulling my back leg to scratch behind my twitchy ear. "I completely forgot I was here."
"no duh." Jake looked away from me, blushing slightly. "so, um, how are you feeling?"

When we finally did reach Jake's place, I jumped for joy. near literally! I leap thru the open door, my old crusty shoes quickly slipping off my feet, and my hat flying off.
"Ah, Home Sweet Home." I twirl around on all fours, positioning myself comfortably on the floor, with my tail slithering out of my pants.
"Mickey, you do know this isn't your home right?" Jake picks up the shoes and hat I tossed off.
"I mean, I'm basically over here every day...and I usually sleep over...and-"
"Okay, Mickey, I get it!" Jake rushes off to his room, red faced again.
Something seems to be really off about Jake... He seems worried... I wonder what about?
