Jared, satisfied with the amount of relief he had just experienced and his freshly-emptied bladder, suddenly felt an urge to go for a walk. Not one on a leash, but rather a quick tour around the neighborhood by himself. His father and the impostor using his human body no doubt would just ignore him or put him back outside if we went inside the house, and even if he was allowed to stay indoors, there were few dog-related activities involving the house that he could see himself enjoying.
Jared looked up and Kevin and barked a simple "walk". Kevin smiled, and as Jared had expected, began to walk to the garage to get the dog leash. Again, Jared barked, this time a firm "alone". No more, preferably less. Please."
Kevin walked back to the house, and with a final "love you, bro", left Jared to himself. Overcome with the urge to explore the neighborhood as a dog, Jared went through the hedge to exit the yard. A small fence set up behind the hedge briefly stopped him, but a few seconds of digging and crawling gave him ample room to slide out under it. Unfortunately, Jared wound up rather dirty in the process. Part of him was worried about having to get hosed off upon his return to the house, but that thought was soon replaced by his increasing desire to see the world through canine eyes.
