Mary rang the door bell repeatably. She was getting impatient.
She was searching the forest until she thought about what that old lady said not sitting well with her. All the doors and windows shutting by themselves, implies that the old lady is either trying to keep people out or to keep people in. So Mary ran back to the mansion to hear voices behind the front door. She tried to eavesdrop but she couldn't understand a single word. She did made out Isaac and Nat's voices coming from inside the mansion. She tried opening the door but it was locked. So she tried knocking the door. When that didn't work, she tried hitting it repeatably. She only succeeded in bruising her fists. Not even her sword could place a scratch on the door!
Eventually, she realized she has to resort to drastic measures...
She pulled the doorbell rope in hopes of someone letting her in.
...no response. She could only hear silence from within.
Growing impatient, she started pulling the rope up and down in order to get the doorbell to ring repeatably.
...Still no response...
Not knowing anything better to do, she kept ringing the doorbell. She knows her friends' location now. They are inside the mansion.
She just needs to figure out a way to get into the mansion!
...
Isaac wished he hadn't looked down.
The bell vibrated the room, causing the dust at ground level to start moving. As he walked up the stairs, he couldn't help but watch as the dust from ground level started to move. That's funny. He's pretty sure that there isn't any wind down there. But his hopes of the strange sight he was witnessing being harmless were quickly dashed as the vibrations from the bell started animating the dust to move together to create creatures. More specifically, the dust formed rabid looking giant rabbit creatures and they quickly got a whiff of Isaac and Nat's scent. Isaac decided to refer to them as Dust Bunnies.
Nat and Isaac ran up the stairs but those dust bunnies were quick! Nat tried lighting the torches as they ascend the staircase but she kept missing because of her frantic retreat! The duo were forced to run up the stairs in pitch blackness as the Dust Bunnies gave chase!
Eventually, they reached a dead end at the top of the stair case. Isaac quickly realized that the dead end was actually a door and quickly opened it. But as Isaac and Nat entered the doorway, Nat's foot was grabbed by one of the dust bunnies!
This is bad. Isaac's makeshift sword was in bad shape so he left it at the town ruins. Isaac doesn't have enough time to generate a new sword!
Nat suddenly heard a voice in her head. 'Hurry! Pull out the pen in your pocket and click it!' Nat had no time to question the strange voice.
She did as she was told and pulled the pen out of her pocket. As soon as she clicked the pen, it changed into a magnificent looking sword!
As if the voice was mentally guiding her, she slashed the dust bunny's hand-paw off!
Isaac was quick to shut the door.
The bell eventually stopped ringing.
..
Mary let out a huff. It's obvious no one is going to respond to the door bell. So she gave up on ringing the door bell and decided to look around the yard. Maybe there is a secret passageway somewhere. If not, then maybe a walk can at least help her generate ideas on getting in.
...
"Are you okay?" Isaac asked.
Nat noticed a lot of dust on her left ankle. But before she could brush it off, the dust was seamlessly adsorbed into her skin.
"I think..." Nat halfheartedly responded. She wasn't sure the disappearing dust was a good or bad thing.
What's that sword you have?" Isaac asked.
But before she could think of the the ramifications of that, much less answer Isaac's question, she the time to examine the sword in her hand. It was beautiful...
'EXCUSE ME?! I'm not a it! I am in fact a him! My name is Excalubur!' The voice said proudly.
Nat looked around, but couldn't find the source of the voice.
"Did you say something Isaac?" Nat asked.
"No. I don't think so." Isaac answered.
Isaac was a little puzzled by the way Nat is acting. He didn't mind that she didn't answer his question, but her movement and how she is frantically turning her head around feels familiar but he can't quite place it. It's almost like she tuned out the world as she focuses her attention else-were. 'Is it that obvious?' Dark Isaac commented before resuming his debate with Ilivir about what it means to be a paladin.
'Can't you figure out that the sword you are holding in your hand is talking to your thoughts?' Excalibur indignantly telepathically asked Nat.
'Does he mean that only I can hear his voice?' Nat wondered.
'Yes! And it's rude to act like I can't read your thoughts!' the sword exclaimed.
Nat looked at Isaac. 'Can Isaac you?'
The let out a mental sigh. 'No. Only you can hear me. I chosen you to be my wielder.'
'Why me?' Nat mentally asked.
'Because you bear the qualities to be my wielder. Now stop asking so many questions! Can't you see that you're friend has been silent for the past few moments?' Excalibur mentioned.
Nat turned to see Isaac was looking at something. She then turned to the direction he was facing.
