Lana loves the urban setting. Something about the crowds of people and the condensed air mean something to her. It was great when she was there. Until she was thrown out into the countryside. Her parents thought a country retreat would be great for them. Lana, of course, despised this idea. She tried to make excuses like studying and preparing for her next semester. Her parents were having none of it.
The land around their retreat was all fields, with a dirt path leading to the main road from the little ranch house and red barn.
When they pulled up, Lana’s parents went right into the house, wonderfully enthusiastic. Lana just didn’t care and trailed behind them at a slower pace.
The house was typical like the ones in shows that Lana’s parents used to watch in the city. Little table, little rooms, little everything. Excited about their country vacation, Lana’s parents called a meeting at the small table. They discussed what to do to improve the place. Lana sarcastically said to get a farm animal to raise then sell. Her parents, not picking up the sarcasm, thought it was a great idea. They planned the next day to go to the mile away farmers market. Lana decided to not go ahead of time. Lana was lucky that the retreat had a small TV with cable. She planned to stay there and watch. They all proceeded to go to bed, as it was late.
In the morning, Lana woke to her parents being gone. They had left to the market.
