Sara enjoyed running by the swamp. The damp air kept her from overheating, the moist ground was easy on her knees, and the mosquitoes provided motivation to not take any long breaks. Plus observing the scenery was always enjoyable. As she made her way back to the parking lot she noticed two toads fleeing from a heron.
Nature can be pretty rough, she thought to herself. The heron spotted her approaching and decided it was more scared than hungry at the moment and took off. You're welcome froggies, she thought smiling to herself. As she passed by them the smaller frog jumped up and she saw something on its front leg. Weird, she thought.
Curious, she stopped her run and went back to the frog. Both of them were leaping like mad but not running away. She knelt down to look at the one with the band. "Oh you poor thing. I'll get that off you. Just hold still" she tugged at it but it wouldn't budge. The other frog flicked it's tongue at the smaller one and it decided to wiggle the ring off herself.
Really weird she thought and pocketed the tiny ring. "Well thanks for the ring guys. Watch out for those herons." She stood up and took off again. She heard a few croaks from behind and turned her head back to see one of then trying to follow her.
30 minutes later Sara got back to her car. She tagged the bumper and stopped her timer. While pacing back and forth to catch her breathe she decided to pull out the tiny ring she found on the frog.
Sara looked on in disbelief as the ring was now triple its original size. After carefully examining it she slipped it on and it did indeed fit her. "No way." She whispered to no one. Not being the most scientific person, her mind quickly jumped to magic. She looked back at the swamp. Maybe they were magic frogs who rewarded me for saving their life. Or maybe they are pissed I stole their ring. Either way I better get out of here she thought.
Sara turned back to her car and sitting on the hood where two frogs. "Oh" she gasped. "I guess you want your ring back?" The larger one jumped. "Or did you want me to have it? Oh! Do I get three wishes first?" The second one jumped twice. Sara took this to mean yes.
"Okay, I wish for a million wishes!" She blurted. The frogs had no reaction. "Oh, okay that was stupid. My bad." Sara said dissapointed. They both hopped once. "Okay fine, something do able. I wish this car would never run out of gas." Again nothing happened. "Did that work?" She asked the frogs. The larger one croaked. "Is that a yes or a no? Man, I wish I could speak frog."
Suddenly Sara felt strange. Her tight running gear loosened and she felt dizzy as a falling sensation turned her stomach. Christina and Zach croaked in frustration as they watched Sara emerge from her clothing as a frog.
"Oh shit, what did I do!" She yelled.
"Well the good news is you can understand Christina and me now." Zach croaked.
"And the bad news is you're stuck as a frog." Christina said then after a brief pause added "you stupid fool."
