Once Harold and Virginia had finished speaking with the principal, the two made their way out of the school now that the dance was over, and started back for their home. For much of the walk, Harold was silent as various thoughts went through his mind.
Virginia picked up on this and said, "You've been quiet. Care to say what's on your mind?"
Virginia's voice broke his line of thought and said, "Sorry, I'm just worried about Mel. Ever since she went with those boys..."
"If she's with Trevor, I'm sure she'll be fine. And happy." Virginia noticed the slight scowl on Harold's face. "There's something else that's bothering you, isn't there?"
Harold paused as he gathered his thoughts, "It's just...things are just changing too fast. For several years, it's just been Mel and me surviving out in the world as best as we could. Then we move here and in the past couple of weeks, we've had to go into a new school, discover weres exist, and becoming said weres. Then you come into my life, and Trevor finds Mel, and all of this." He sighed and said, "It's just all a bit much too fast."
"Aren't those good things?" Virginia replied as she looked at Harold.
"I suppose, but the changes aren't done yet. When Mel comes home, I'm afraid I won't be able to recognize her. We're getting married, and that means that we're going to have to deal with a whole bunch of headaches."
Virginia paused as she listened to him and then thought over her response. "Remember what I told you when I changed. Although my outward appearance changed, I'm still the same person that I was before I changed. I still loved teaching, and I love history. The same'll be true for Mel. Yeah, she won't look the same, but she'll be the same daughter who loves her father."
He sighed and said, "I suppose your right. I mean, I didn't change too much when I became a weretiger."
"Just in the right ways," Virginia said with a bit of a smirk. She then continued, "Besides, as to the future, we'll just handle things one at a time and together. Sure, we'll need to get a marriage license, move my stuff from my house into ours, put the house on the market and sees who buys it. It sounds like much, but we'll get through it and then we can enjoy our life together." She spun around to give a brief kiss to Harold, stopping the two. After the kiss, she noticed that they were at their house. "And speaking of the present," she said as she leaned into him to whisper into his ear. "We're home now, the night's young, and why don't you show this weretigress a good time?"
Harold grinned as he scooped up Virginia into his arms and carried her into the house and up the stairs towards the master bedroom. Along the way, they took off their togas so that by the time they reached the bedroom, they were clad in nothing but their fur as they expressed their love for each other.
