Princess Arianna was seated in her royal carriage as it made its way through the woods, escorted by several armored knights. They were making their way back to the royal palace, after Arianna had spent the several weeks at the royal family's countryside estate. Not that she wanted to be heading back already, but she didn't have a choice. Her parents were hosting foreign dignitaries from some country or another, and that meant that she, as the Crown Princess, had to be present for the tedious feast they were going to be holding in honor of the visit. She had of course protested, but this was one of the few times that the King and Queen had put their feet down and forced her to do as she was told.
So, Arianna was understandably in a bad mood, which was only made worse by the boredom as the trip back home seemingly dragged on. She could feel her agitation growing by the moment, and the only reason she wasn't yelling at the idiotic coach driver to go faster was because she knew he wasn't allowed to move the carriage at above-normal speeds unless it was an emergency. It was some sort of foolish law for the safety of carriage passengers, and the health of the horses pulling them.
"Gods, couldn't there at least be something interesting on this road to break the monotony?" she muttered.
She didn't know it now, but Arianna was soon going to regret even thinking that, let alone wishing for it. For soon, her carriage path was going to cross with that of something quite interesting indeed. And it was going to turn Arianna's world upside down.
