Fear gripping your heart, you scramble further up the shoelace. Each titanic step threatens to dislodge you from your girlfriend's foot. The threads of the lace feel like rope under your fingers as you continue scaling the side of the mountainous shoe. You just get into the rhythm of Lina's walking when your whole balance is thrown off.
She stops.
The lace snaps like a whip, hurtling you into the air. Losing your tenuous grip on the lace at the wrong moment sends you into an arc. Tumbling as you fall, you bounce once, twice, and roll to a stop along the leather edge next to her massive ankle.
Not for long.
A mere flick of her foot, a twist of the ankle, and you fall in. You bounce, sliding between the cloth of the sock and the leather of the shoe. You wouldn't think that there would be enough room - but you've continued to shrink further. The process seems to be slowing slightly - not that it matters much at this point.
Microscopic?
Atomic?
You could care less.
You try in vain to control your decent to the bottom of her shoe. It is, of course, an impossible task. You bounce your way down a slippery slope of cow hide, coming eventually to rest. Around you the world is silent and still. The shaking that has dominated your existence has quieted itself. You find a moment of tranquillity in this Hush Puppy.
Amazingly, the process of shrinking has stopped. Approaching the wall of white cloth, you can easily make out the individual threads. The spaces between them are large enough to allow you to slip between them. Beyond the fence of thread, a massive flesh colored object - Lina's foot!
So now what brave adventurer?
Start climbing and somehow getting her attention - an almost impossibility at your size - or get out and escape to safety while you can.
