While Christmas was winding down for Animalia in general, there was a lot of news for new Animalia colonies in other parts of the world.
From the planned colony in the Serengeti, there were announcements that talked about how the colony was going to be. From the traditional African huts to modern/futuristic energy supply system, the colony was well under way. The biggest thing was how the colony/community center was going to be similar to the famous "Pride Rock" kopje from the Lion King movies. Partly that was to add on to the "Fresh Prince of Pride Rock" which was based partly on the movies mentioned, as well as "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air".
Both China and Japan had decided to base their colonies off of video games and movies with similar cultures. The Chinese colony was going to be based off of both the Kung Fu Panda series as well as The Legend of Kay, while the Japanese colony was going to be based primarily off of the Okami videogame.
Both Alaska, Canada and Russia decided to work together to supply Animalia colonies, both to save the remaining permafrost and bring back extinct ice age species. While neither of them were capable of reviving feral ice age species at present, it was still a good idea to work together to get there.
News from Australia told about how a new division of Project Phoenix had been established to get the extinct species there a good enough foothold. Another good thing that was news there was that koala Animalians no longer needed just eucalyptus leaves to survive. Another thing was how Perry and Penny would be getting into spy movies, but they wouldn't be similar to the "missions" that appeared in Phineas and Ferb, much to the mixed emotions of children. These movies, in fact would be more in tune to the original James Bond movies.
The biggest news was from the Egyptian colony. The world first refugee camp, as it was now known, was fully mapped and the artifacts were getting studied. The Egyptian government was already selecting either animals that inspired the Egyptian gods or humans that qualified for Project Phoenix, to build the Divine Council, as the governing body would be called.
One really ambitious project was to "revive" and retrofit ancient, cold war era bunker-cities as Animalia Colonies, but due to the fact that there weren't really many either available or actually safe for retrofitting, that was put on hold for now. But all together there were good ideas on recycling ancient concrete structures for Animalian use, even if there weren't any available at the moment.
