Katie and Lisa now sat on the couch eating snacks and singing along to the Little Mermaid. Lisa's plan seemed to be working so far, meaning it was time to start part two.
"So having fun," Lisa asked. Katie smiled widely before answering. "I'm having an amazing time mom," she giggled. "Thanks I really needed this."
Lisa grinned broadly. "Glad your having fun," she said. "But two things. First until we grow back up you can call me Lisa, it feels weird being called mom when I look like this."
Katue nodded in response. "Okay Lisa so what the second thing."
Lisa let out a girlish yelp as she reached for her purse. "Well secondly I don't know about you but no sleepover is complete with out a bit of a makeover."
Katie watched as Lisa produced about a dozen bottles of nail polish from her bag. "So any preference," she asked.
Katie shrugged. "Not really," she said. "Never really painted my nails before. Seemed silly considering all the sports I play. They always break."
Lisa grinned broadly as she grabbed Katies legs and rolled her pant legs up. "Well lucky for you then I'm not painting your fingers."
Katie giggled as Lisa took her foot and began applying a coat of polish to her toes. "Well dont just sit there," Lisa stated, putting her feet in Katie's lap. "I want to see some polish on my toes too." Katie smiled as she grabbed a bottle of polish and rolled up Lisa's pants.
Both girls now contentedly began working on the others nails. Lisa was concentrating very hard but took a moment to gaze at her niece. Katie seemed to be engaged in her work and at ease. It seemed like the perfect opportunity to find out what had happened over the course of the week.
"So Katie," Lisa said. "I was kinda hoping I could ask you a question?"
Katie looked up giving Lisa an inquisitive look. "Whats on your mind Lisa?"
"What happened with you and Kellie?"
Katie sighed sadly, letting her shoulders slump. "Its stupid," she muttered. "And your going to be mad at me."
"Hey c'mon," Lisa encouraged. "Im sure its not stupid and I promise I won't be mad. Besides I'm not exactly in a position to give a motherly lecture right now."
Katie giggled and sighed. "Okay," she sighed. "Kellie got mad at me for useing the ring. I was being kinda reckless with it. Kellie called me out on it and we started yelling at eachother. Its my fault, I was being really reckless and stupid but I wouldn't listen to her."
Lisa took this all in and she gazed at her niece. She had a feeling the girls fight probably had something to do with the ring. As she looked at the young girl Lisa could see Katies bottom lip begin to tremble.
"Hey, hey , hey," Lisa soothed. "Its okay alright. Look you know it was a mistake and you've beaten yourself up enough. I'm not mad, I'm not worried but I am concerned. Didn't you tell me to be very careful with the ring."
Katie laughed as she wiped her eyes. "Guess I should of taken my own advise."
"Duh," Lisa exclaimed.
Katie and Lisa now burst into a fit of giggles. As they continued their work and continued to talk.
"So your not mad at me," Katie said meekly. Lisa shook her head. "No, not really," Lisa shrugged. "I mean I worry about you and hope you dont do anything crazy but I trust you Katie. More often than not you make the right decision and I'm very proud that you do. Thankfully your very mature for you age."
"Yep thats me little Miss Maturity."
The girls began to giggle again. "Well I don't know about you but Im done." Lisa exclaimed. Katie looked down at her toes admiring the soft pink Lisa had painted them.
"Wow thanks Lisa," Katie said warmly.
"So how do mine look?"
Katie blushed slightly as Lisa looked down at her toes. "Really Katie," Lisa grumbled.
Katie stifled a giggle as Lisa frowned. Katie wanted to do something special so she had decided to paint her nails like a rainbow. "What its colorful," she giggled.
"My toes look like Skittles," she whined.
Katie now began laughing hard at the grumpy looming red head. Lisa smirked at Katie as she plotted her revenge
"You know Katie," Lisa smirked. "There is one side effect with the ring that you should know about."
Katie paused as she gave her aunt a concerned look. "What is it?"
"Well," Lisa grinned. "I've found that once you become a kid you start acting more like a kid. And I should tell you that right now I'm very much feeling like a kid."
Katie gave Lisa an odd look. Before she could say anything Lisa swung a pillow hitting Katie dead in the face.
"PILLOW FIGHT!" Lisa exclaimed.
Both girls now burst into a fit of childish giggles as an epic pillow fight began. The two girls acted like this for almost an hour. Exhausted the two collapsed onto the couch next to eachother gigglimg softly before falling into a blissful sleep.
