The little girl's mother was clapping and applauding and saw her daughter catch the amulet.
"Congratulations, Lyla, you caught it!"
Lyla was still sniffling because she hadn't completely gotten over the rude man's hasty exit or the fact that he had knocked over her coke. "I'm still angry with that man! Why do people do things like that, mommy?"
"Well, Lyla, some people are very rude. There will always be rude people, honey." She then knelt to her daughter's face, "That's why you must always try to be polite and kind to everyone, so that there will be less rude people."
"Okay, mommy. I just wish that stupid man would have said he was sorry."
Meanwhile...at Karissa's house...
Karissa and Mitch had just arrived home. "Well, another place where we were embarassed. Don't you have any curtesy for people?"
"C'mon babe. You know I hate the opera and yet you still begged me to take you!"
"I don't care...oh let's not fight about it. I'm too tired, and I don't think it would be a good idea. Let's just forget about it."
"I'm with you!" Mitch said with a grin.
"Alright, I have a report to finish up, and then..." she smiled walking to him, extending her fingernails up his sternum on his still suited torso, "Well you know what happens next." She smiled and walked away slowly to do her bills.
Mitch smiled and walked over to her report table. She sat down and started writing it out, but then looked up, "I'm stuck on exaggerate again...how do you spell it Mitch? You always tell me..."
"Haven't you learned by now?" He said with a knowing grin, "It's E-X-E...no that's not it...E-X-O? No..."
Mitch had lost six IQ points since they had been home, and was still on the downward scale, "I'm afraid I don't know either," he said with a pale look on his face.
Karissa just sighed and looked down, spelling it the best she could. She didn't know what was wrong with Mitch tonight, but she was getting mad.
Mitch sighed. He always had known how to spell that word and now he could't even remember the first three letters...what was wrong with him. "I think I am going to go to bed, I don't feel well..." Mitch said.
