Running away was something Kelly hadn't tried the last 2 times she encountered her cousin Sara. The 2 year-old stood there staring at Kelly as if she was supposed to entertain her. Kelly looked around the room for somewhere to hide or for somewhere Sara couldn't reach her.
There's no place I could really run to, Kelly thought to herself.
Still Kelly made a mad dash to the door and watched to see how Sara would react.
Sara slowly toddled to the door. Kelly tried to open the door in the meantime but, as she guessed, the door was far too heavy for her to open even though it was a push door.
Just then Sara finally reached Kelly's position.
"Kewy run fast," she said.
Of course Sara walked to the door while Kelly ran. Therefore, Sara could probably outrun Kelly if she wanted. But Sara was too young to realize that Kelly wasn't trying to play with her. Just then Kelly thought of a brilliant idea - she could use Sara to open the door!
I may be smaller than a toddler but I am still smarter than one, thought Kelly.
"Sa-ra!" Kelly said in sing song. "I need you to open the door so I can go to the potty."
