Mr. Green led Carrie out to his car, a shiny jade green Prius. Holding out the door for Carrie, he ushered her in, to her delight. Heading in himself, he started up the car, and began the drive to Carrie's house.
Along the way, Carrie couldn't stop fingering the bracelet. For the only thing her grandmother left her, it sure was really important. She fingered the charms, taking into detail each one. A baby, a man, a woman, a pen, an ostrich, a kangaroo, a frog, a lamp, and a gorilla, with many more inside the white box she had gotten.
"Hey, Mr. Greene?" She asked, remembering how he had transformed before her very eyes. "Did my grandma use all of these charms?
Mr. Greene kept looking forward, but smiled. "You'd better believe she did. Your grandma was a smart woman, you know. She used those charms in ways you'd never believe."
Carrie smiled softly, remembering her grandma, then dozing off for a bit.
By the time Mr. Greene had gotten back to the house, it was night-time. He gently woke Carrie up, wishing he could carry her in, but he didn't trust her step mother to leave the charms alone.
Carrie got up, wondering if the charms were a dream, until she saw the bracelet around her hand, and the white box beside her.
"Thanks for waking me, Mr. Greene!" She yawned as he led her to her house.
Once she entered the house, she was greeted by her dad, getting embraced in a large hug. "Oh sweetie, I'm glad you're home." He said, stroking her hair.
"Thank you for bringing her back Mr. Greene," He then said, standing up to look at the man.
Mr Greene smiled, adjusting his glassses. "No problem at all, really. Now take care Mr. Summers." And with that he left, zooming away.
As soon as he left, Judy took this opportunity to pry. "Now, little brat, give us what you got!"
Carrie instantly shied away, protectively holding the whitebox. "I can't do that!" She said. "It's the only thing from Grandma that I have!"
Judy snarled, marching up to her. "You dare disobey me?! I'll beat you, you twerp! I'll make sure they never-"
She was cut off as Carrie's dad grabbed her. "That's enough, Judy." He said, in an intimidating tone of voice. She stopped, but was only momentarily deterred.
"Fine!" She said, stomping upstairs. "But we're having sex!" Mr. Summers wished Carrie goodnight, then reluctantly went upstairs.
Carrie trudged to her room, determined that she could use this bracelet to help her family.
