"Tom?" the woman asked aching body in front of her. Then looking past Tom, "Matt?" she added. "What floor is this?" She started to look around, trying to distract from the obvious fact that was growing on the two caught in a strange spot.
"Katie! What did you do to me? To us?" Tom asked wheezing. He was trying to stand and move closer to her but his legs felt shaky, muscles cramping one moment and then relaxing completely right after.
"I am so, so sorry you guys," Kate, now starting to realize the scale of her mistake, apologized with a reddening face. "I'm two floors below where I wanted to be and that spell..."
"Spell?" Matt singled out with a pained wheeze as her guts felt like they were worming around in his torso.
His teeth were chattering, making it hard for to want to answer.
"It's a bit tricky, and long-winded, but the long and short of it is I thought you two were Jake, my now ex-boyfriend," she said with eyes on Tom's strained face, "And Micky, his roommate," she tried to look remorseful to a quite unwell looking Matt. "I was supposed to be getting them back for something they did... something really, really horrible, that they deserved, and I had this spell from my grandmother to help with that only," she lowered her head and took a couple steps back out of the dorm room.
"Only what?" Tom strained to ask through clenched teeth.
"Only you're not them and the spells can't be reversed so I'm really, really, REALLY, sorry for this." Kate tried to sound kind but she was well aware it wouldn't amount to much.
Tom tried to stand again but feel to his hands and knees, sweating all over and doing everything in his power to put together a sentence.
"What is happening... to us?" he managed before having to bend his head to deal with the sensation of a heart beating so fast it wanted to come out of his chest.
Kate looked down at her feet. She sighed loudly. "Well, the spell is going to turn you two into..."
