Now back in the Courtroom many
former Freedom Fighters in the Peoples Rebel Army
taken advantage of King Aeyric the First's
offer of the Kings Pardon if they
would testify in defense of Issac,Ilvir and Marry.
Though it seemed self defeating to some
others thought it was a shrewd political move
on the new Kings part
to quell any rebellious parties
still in the Sky Kingdom.
And so,even to King Aeyric's
surprise and chagrin
there were plenty of cloud peasants and soldiers
willing to testify
that
Issac,Ilvir and Marry
had done good deeds in their
time on the Cloud Plane.
The Defence lawyers were delighted with all
this heaps of praise for their clients
but the Royal Sky Prosecutor
was afraid for his
case since the reinvigorated Monsters
he was parading before the
Jury of 9
tended to be big oafs and cretins.
They roared,spat fire
but left everyone in the Courtroom
with the feeling that
perhaps
Issac had done his civic duty
by slaying and absorbing them.
It appeared Issac might be getting off lightly.
So when Witness 45 appeared on the stand
and took the oath
a mild mannered were serpent vampire he used to be
a bookkeeper accountant in the Plane
of Niffelfheim,
the Prosecutor expected another snarling roaring
fanged oath of a monster
whining about
how it was all due to bad parents,or bad swamps
or sunspots on the Nine Suns.
And to a large extent that's that way the were-serpent looked to be headed
in its testimony.
"So then you were absorbed like all the others!" the
Prosecutor said as
he walked away from the
witness
Not all the others,no" quietly hissed the monster
and the Prosecutor nearly dismissed him before
he realized this monster had lightly tapped the door ajar
He whirled around and returned to the ectoplasmic were serpent bookkeeper
vampire accountant
"No?" said the Prosecutor
"Not all the others" quietly hissed the were serpent
who frustratingly seemed eager to leave the
witness box rather
then explain himself
"Not-all-the -others?" sid the Prosecutor
Taking a wild hope
This was a killer he was trying to put away
after all
he said
"What of the others? said the Prosecutor
a hopeful gleam in his eyes
"Slayed, not absorbed" hissed the booky werespent
"Kills for money not absorbed!" hissed the monster
"Oh?" said the Prosecutor
as the full import of what the Monster had told him sunk in
"There are more kills, for money, secret accounts" confirmed the all knowing
accountant turned Monster
At which point Issac suddenly leapt up off the bench
screaming
"It lies It lies" and leapt over the bench in front and tried to make for
Witness 45
