Toby was an average high school senior. He got kicked off the football team yesterday, cut, because of his lack of athleticism and muscle. The guys he thought were his friends didn't seem to care at all, "sorry dude," they said, "if you can't hack it with us, you can't be on the team." Toby lost the game for the team when he missed the quarterback Blake's pass to him the night before. This one was one of a few flubs Toby committed the past couple of weeks, and Coach finally had to kick him off.
Toby also wasn't nearly as muscle-clad as his fellow football players, but he played the last few years on his high school team and loved the sport, loved the camaraderie with his bros. Saddened and a little betrayed, Toby knew today would be his last day in the locker room, he needed to pack up his things and leave.
Toby decided to take a walk on the way to school through the woods. He didn't typically take this path, but needed a moment to clear his head. On his way to the schoolyard, he wandered off the path and over a set of rocks and a fallen tree. It was there that he tripped over an old wooden box.
He looked closely, it said "KEEP OUT" and appeared to be very old. "What is this?" Toby asked himself.
He cracked open a decaying wood panel and found a large sack inside. Pulling it out of the box, he felt around in the sack and found a pair of gloves and what looked like a loincloth. "Weird" he told himself.
As he held the loincloth he noticed it give him some sort of endurance. And confidence. It built him up and made him feel like a strong and aggressive man, the way he always wanted to feel.
He thought it weird to actually try on the loincloth, but it was like it was beckoning him to do so. He felt an urge unlike any other. But yet he still had no idea what it was or why it was there.
Reality flowed back into Toby and he threw the loincloth and gloves into his backpack. "Maybe later." He thought. He continued heading to school.
