On one hand, Doctor Frances Twist wasn't happy that Jenny Jenkins invited outsiders to her therapy session, even if it was technically the last one.
Things had gone exceedingly well with Jenny getting married and dealing with her overbearing father, Dieter Wilhelm, and everything else. Granted, it was unfortunate the elder Harper had a heart attack, but as long as Jenny was bearing no guilt on the matter or had none put upon her, especially since it wasn't her fault to begin with, Frances believed her patient would be all right.
There appeared to be no lasting after effects from the delay of Jenny being unable to initially complete her first transformation either. But even though her older brother appeared in on the town's secrets and willing to keep them, no one could discuss were society around her mother Elizabeth.
Yet what was proposed for discussing during their last session, discovering the whys and wherefores that led to the Harper family problems to begin with, did intrigue Frances.
But just as she was about to usher everyone into her office, someone else entered the waiting room.
"Am I interrupting something?" asked Samantha Twist as she entered her wife's practice.
"Almost," replied Frances. Yet she knew Samantha wouldn't stop by unless it was important. "What's up?"
"I called Huck," she began, which got the interest of just about everyone present, "but he won't be able to come look at the damage to the house and give us a repair estimate until sometime this afternoon. Said something about baby sitting."
"Really?" asked Frances, while looking at her patient and other guests. Jenny just smiled and nodded in acknowledgement.
"Anyway, I've still got to go to that budget meeting, but I'll be back home in plenty of time before Huck shows," promised Samantha.
"Is everything all right?" asked Jenny.
"Just a couple of things to take care of," answered Samantha, not elaborating about the bullet holes in their bedroom window and wall.*
"Well, while I have the chance, I just want to thank Frances," Jenny said, as she hugged Doctor Twist, "and you for everything you've done for me," she added, while hugging Samantha. Then, taking both ladies' hands in hers, said, "I hope your fondest wish eventually comes true."
The Twists just looked at each other. Samantha knew her wife's fondest wish was for them to have a true biological child of their own, instead of adopting.
Frances looked at her mate, knowing that Samantha's fondest wish was just to make sure Frances was always happy and knew how much her wife loved her.
Yet there's no way I'll truly ever have "our" child, is there? was the unspoken question on Frances' mind as she stared at Samantha.
The couple had been in love with each other since they first met as teenagers. Samantha was already a naturally born werecat and a confirmed lesbian. Frances suspected she was at least bi, but became both a full lesbian and a werecat because of her love for her wife.**
Yet now was not the time nor place to discuss wishes that couldn't be granted.
Both Twists just looked at each other and politely said, "Thank you," almost simultaneously.
"Well, I've got to get going. Don't worry about dinner either. I'll take care of that too," promised Samantha, as she turned to leave.
"Samantha..." began Frances, wondering if she should with outsiders present.
Her wife turned, and then Frances rushed into Samantha's arms and gave her a quick kiss.
Jenny and Harold Jenkins, along with James Harper Junior just smiled at the happy couple.
Elizabeth Harper just stared at them, but didn't say anything.
"I'll see you later," said Samantha, before she turned and reluctantly left Frances' office.
Then, Frances turned and looked at those assembled in her waiting room.
"Sorry for the delay. Shall we step into my office and begin the session?" asked Frances, never saying a word about the smile on her face or the blush in her cheeks.
