Back in the house the computer flashed up a message.
“New parameters have been deployed. No further changes are possible from this computer. Have a nice day!”. Steve’s work was taking hold.
The trio looked at each other and stared back at the computer in disbelief. Then they noticed the new sleeping gear and massive stash of bigger cigars and pipes.
“Doug, what the fuck is going on? Where did you get this program? Who put this new gear here?” asks Scott.
“I don’t know what’s happening. I paid big money for this and now it’s saying we have no control over it?”. Doug was panicking and wandered what lay in store for them.
Tyler looked on but felt slightly less scared than before. He certainly didn’t want to leave any more and realised that he didn’t hate the scent of the others’ cigars and pipes.
“OK let’s not panic” said Scott as he finished another cigar. He took a 105 ring cigar from the new stash and lit up, he found the extra smoke and size most enjoyable and planted the stick in the corner of his mouth. “Wow I love this bigger stick, and it should last a little longer too” he joked, then realised that his vest selection now featured the bigger cigars as well. Scott looked over the sleep gear, pumps and masks. “Looks like someone has given me a way of getting my smoke 24/7, that’s so fucking hot. There are only two sets of gear though, maybe you will have to fight over the other one!”.
Doug loaded up one of the new pipes with a massive amount of strong tobacco and also loved the extra volume of smoke – he was enjoying it so much that he didn’t notice that his churchwarden pipe disappeared. Tyler was looking over the new stuff and noticed a few boxes of smaller cigars, 60 ring maduros. He sniffed the stash and immediately got hard, not quite knowing why. “Uh Scott, do you think you can show me how to light a cigar?”. “Sure thing buddy, they look just right for a beginner. Too small for me, reckon they have your name on them anyway! If you get the hang of preparing and lighting a cigar, maybe you’ll have to start doing mine”. Before long Tyler was relishing his first cigar. “Wow this is nice, I could get used to this” he beamed. He wasn’t inhaling like Scott and wondered what that felt like. A part of him hoped he would soon be trying.
They took a moment to enjoy their first smoke as a hauling trio, and their worries over the program glitch faded away.
