“Going out sounds good,” Sasha said. “But, how we getting there? We don’t have a car or a license.”
“Uber of course,” Gloria smiled. “Cmon yu make the call while I go get changed.” Sasha nodded as she pulled out her cellphone.
Gloria now searched Lisa’s closet for something to wear. If she was going out to dinner she wanted to look nice. As she browsed her mother’s clothes she found herself absentmindedly thinking of Sasha. She liked Sasha a lot but she wasn’t so sure if she liked the girl like that. Only a few days ago the girl had been an elderly neighbor. The more she thought about it the more confused she got. “Am I crushing on Sasha,” she thought as she grabbed a black dress of her moms. “I mean, I’ve never thought of girls like that in the past. I’ve always liked boys. Even when me Jackie and the others were at dances previously I always danced with boys.”
As Gloria now changed she looked herself over in her mother’s vanity mirror. “Well I certainly do look hot,” she smirked. “Guess I’ll just take Claudia’s advise and be myself. If nothing else it will give me a chance to get to ‘know Sasha better.”
As Gloria descended the stairs she could see Sasha fiddling with her outfit. As the dark haired girl looked up she smiled. “Wow you look great,” she said. Gloria smirked as she gazed at Sasha. “Thanks you look pretty great too.”
Sasha frowned slightly as she once again adjusted her dress. “Thanks for that,” she said. “But ugh these dresses are so not me. I’m more of a jeans and T-shirt kinda girl.”
“If we’re going out we gotta dress up,” Gloria giggled. “Now cmon our ride is here.”
The Uber trip went rather quickly as Sasha and Gloria laughed, exiting the Uber Gloria gaped at their destination. “Wow great choice,” she said in awe. “This is one of the best places in town.” Sasha glanced over at her friend smiling. “Yeah I know,” she said. “My dad and I went here for his birthday last month. The food pretty good plus they have a dress code so this dress won’t go to waste.”
The two 21 year old friends smiled as their waiter guided them to a booth. As they scanned over the menus Gloria found herself continually glancing over at her dark haired friend. Sasha looked up with a curious look on her face. “Do I have something on my face,” she asked. “No,” Gloria answered quickly, her face reddening. “I....I was just lost in thought.”
“Well knock it off goofball,” she smirked. “Your making me feel self conscious.” Gloria apologized taking a deep breath she now tried talking to her friend.
“So Sasha,” she said. “I’ve been wondering...something. Um..how do you...”
“Hey Gloria,” Sasha said excitedly interrupting Gloria. “I was wondering, do you think you can do some stuff with the ring?”
“Um yeah I think so,” She stammered. “Why, what are you thinking?”
Sasha smirked as she looked over her menu. “I don’t know something fun. Like look over there at thatbelderly couple, wonder what they would be like on a first date? Or look at those two kids checking eachother out from across the room. I got a feeling if they were older they might act on their feelings.”
Gloria sighed as she looked at Sasha. “What about your feelings Sasha,” Gloria asked. Sasha gave the blond girl a confused look before laughing. “My feelings,” she giggled. “What are you getting on about their Glo? Cmon you know I’m not exactly the touchy-feely type. I ain’t got no feelings.”
Gloria frowned slightly as causing Sasha to start to backpeddle. “Hey don’t get me wrong Glo,” she said quickly. “I love hanging it with you and the girls. You guys are like the best. I love having you as friends...your like the most important people in my life....outside of my dad of course.”
Gloria sighed as she looked at her friend. “Sorry Sasha was just being weird,” she said. “Didn’t mean to freak you out or anything.”
“No worries,” Sasha smirked. “Your weird, that’s why I like hanging out with you so much. So what do you say? Wanna have some fun before dinner comes.” Sasha rubbed her chin thoughtfully as she looked at the ring.
