Countess Gabbi von Schloss had a problem.
She'd sent out the invitation to the Soviet dragon ambassador
Ivan
a 3 headed believer in the Soviet progress of the humans
before the stunning failure of the USSR's
first telepathically powered space capsule a month earlier in
December 5 1960.
All the dragons knew of course that the Americans under
Presidents Seinhawer and Yekkedy
had put their hopes on
conventional human technology
rocket engines
whilst Premier Stalin and Kruschev of the USSR had convinced
their
fellows in the Politburo that the future of space exploration lay in
dragon telekinetic driven space ships.
In other words the Russians wanted to re invent
that Holy Grail of
Talking Apes and dragons around
the world
the Ksi Starliner
a starship
The capsule that human cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin
had been hurled up in on
Dec 5 1960 was a primitive craft indeed
certainly not capable of the fantastic feats the myths said the
Ancient craft were capable of
but it was a start
and dragons in both the Capitalist and Communist sides
had genuinely had
the best of intentions
for this Russian human being hurled
upwards
through draconic telekinetic powers.
Alas 45 miles up something had
gone wrong
and a screaming Yuri had minutes to die
as the telekinetic link had broken
and the primitive Ksi Starliner prototype had plunged
back to the frozen wastes of Lake Bakilav.
Though Yuri had activated the crafts parachutes
but too late
the Solyent 01 smashed hard
onto the Lakes
icy surface.
To rub in the sore
President Yekkedy had then announced a week later
that the Americans
planned to use their
rocket technology
to put a human on the
Moon by the end of the decade.
So when that Soviet dragon came to the social party,he was
going to be a dispirited fellow
and the Countess Gabbi looked through her
list of guest
Talking Apes and dragons
for suitable dinner companions to cheer him up.
She noted that you were a politically astute and cheerful
Canadian dragoness
so she arranged with Chef Pierre Le Boufe to seat
you with the Russian
and also put in..... at your table
