The next day was roughly uneventful for Tad, Jen, and Claire as they each went to their respective place for the day. Tad went to school like he would any other weekday, and he got a chance to talk to Amy about what he would be doing that afternoon and why they might not be able to hang out after school. Amy, of course, understood completely, and told Tad that they could hang out tomorrow.
Claire had gone to work for the day and told Olivia about what was happening later that day. Her friend was extremely supportive of what Claire was doing, as Olivia was excited to see that Claire was taking another step in her relationship.
Jen was still at the Decker household looking at the various job opportunities that were available in Moon Lake, as she wanted to have a back up plan in case she didn’t get the job as a teller at the bank.
When school let out for the day, Tad made his way towards the front of the school like he always did and left out the front door. Normally, he’d wait for Amy to meet him out front, but today, he began making his way towards the parking lot as soon as he left the building. It didn’t take long for Tad to spot his mom’s car parked and waiting for him. As he got closer to the car, he could see that someone was sitting in the passenger seat.
“It’s probably Claire,” Tad thought to himself as he reached the car, opened the back door, and got inside.
“Hi honey,” Jen said as her son got in the car. “How was your day?”
“Good,” Tad responded casually as he buckled himself in, signalling that it was okay for Jen to start driving. “Is there a moving truck already at the apartment?”
“There is,” Claire said, turning her body to face Tad. “They’ll help us get all the stuff out. The stuff that will go into the storage unit will go into the truck first, and all the stuff that will come to the house with us will go in last, since we can get that out easier. My apartment is pretty small, so it shouldn’t take us too long to put some things in boxes and move it all. I’d give it about 1-2 hours tops.”
“The sooner we get finished, the sooner we can spend our first night as a couple together,” Jen said to Claire.
“I look forward to it,” Claire said happily.
The drive from the school to Claire’s apartment building wasn’t long, as it was about 5 minutes. When they pulled up in the parking lot of the building, Tad could clearly see some men were loading furniture into a moderately sized moving truck. One pair was currently carrying a couch into the truck while another pair was walking out of the truck, presumably because they had just set something down.
“We came over before we picked you up to let them in,” Claire said to Tad. “I figured that they could get all the big heavy stuff that would go into storage while we picked you up so you can help us pick up some of the smaller stuff.”
“Sounds like a plan,” Tad said, unbuckling and getting out of the car.
