Spring Festivities Starts with Surprises and Disappointments

added by makutamon 5 years ago O

With St. Patrick's Day being the official start of the Spring Festival, it opened in a way that many people expected, with whiskey and Irish Foods. But sometimes there were some Animalians, especially expectant mothers, who ordered it in such a way that many people serving the food were left scratching their heads in confusion, among other things:

---

One vendor was in just such a state after Iphis, Ianthe, Ty, and Lily ordered their latest meal.

"I've heard of pregnancy cravings, but this does more than take the cake." he said, "Corned beef sandwiches with ice cream?! What's next, sardine and marshmallow fudge sandwiches with dill pickles?!"

"Can I help it if my first toy was a garbage disposal?" Lily had responded in response to the sandwich vendor's disgust at the combination, although he had a feeling that she wasn't being serious. What parents, in their right mind, would give a baby a garbage disposal to play with.

---

One of the biggest complaints was how the mud wrestling event of the Mister and Miss Farmhand Competition wouldn't take place until summer. Fortunately, Carla was able to dim it down by explaining that the event would take place when the weather was less 'questionable', and finished the 'one-two punch' by asking what 'traditional' mud wrestling involved. Because most of them couldn't answer, they were quickly dismissed.

The Renaissance Fair that was part of the Spring Carnival didn't have any medieval reenactors who were Animalians, which made sense because Animalia didn't exist in the 15th Century. While Medieval Europe was featured, there was also showcases of India, China, and Japan. There were also some fantasy elements that medieval "religious authorities" at the time condemned as "pagan nonsense" but were included anyway because of their part in other religions, such as elves, dwarves, wizards, and the relatively new members, the orcs.

While there weren't any orcs ready for immediate inclusion, the spring carnival went all the way to the fourth of April, which gave the special effects artists to create enough unique orcs to entertain everyone. Some of them ranged from jobs as simple as fake ears, hair, teeth and body paint, while others were so complex they had to use elaborate crafting to achieve the effects, mainly because the orcs used were from the Middle Earth: Shadow of Mordor and Shadow of War Games. Fortunately, for the younger set, there were classes/showcases that showed how such "Uruk-hai" were made.

What made them even more interesting was the acting that went with the uruks, especially the names of their captains. For example, if you dumped powdered Kool-Aid (poison) into a vat of their drink, one uruk who had the title of the Poisoner would appear and accuse them of doing it wrong. "You've used four times the amount of poison you needed. Haven't you ever heard of supersaturation?" This would often make a lot of geeks and nerds who took part in this part laugh because in reality, how many people in medieval days would know of such a word.

---

All together the Spring Carnival was shaping up to be quite fun, and funny.
