St. Patrick's Day, Part of the Animalia Spring Carnival

added by makutamon 5 years ago O

When St. Patrick's Day came to Animalia, not only was the Spring Carnival started, it was also a time when many new members of Animalia learned about their new tastes.

---

A prime example was that many converted Animalians didn't have the taste for Irish whiskey that they once did. Fortunately there were many ways to dilute the taste of the whiskey, such as mixing it with fruit juices.

The first four members of Project White Lily were surprised when Dr. Jones came over to them and offered to pay their dinner bill.

"Gazette, don't worry about me and bring these four a bottle of Alvarado's Bathtub Boot Screech to go with their meals." he ordered.

They were all confused at the order placed. They were just thinking about a "mystery lust cocktail" when a bottle and four shot glasses were brought to the table.

"Domestic Gin?!" said Larry, incredulously upon reading the label.

"Not just any domestic gin." answered Dr. Jones, "This gin was made and bottled in 1919. This is the real deal, real Prohibition Era alcohol." That was when everyone realized what Dr. Jones was talking about.

---

While Shamus was enjoying some of "home", Shannon had to miss out on the Irish whiskey. She didn't really complain because there were two or three members of Project Phoenix who were actually toddlers with fetal alcohol syndrome, and she didn't want her foal to suffer that.

One guy who was part of the retrieval experts who found the Mafia "hoard" beneath ASM announced something new during the St. Patricks' Day dinner.

"Part of what we found beneath the school were a few empty wine brick boxes from the Prohibition Era. After half a year of research, we managed to get the formula right as it was during Prohibition. They are available at the Gift Shop at the Worldmeet Glade for $20." he had announced. A surprising result of this was that the sale of the wine brick would jump by more than 200% by summer. Before the actual release, it was decided to include facts about Prohibition on the boxes themselves, alongside the "warning" on how not to make wine using the wine brick. Although most uplifted Animalians preferred to drink the drink as soon as the brick was dissolved in the gallon of water rather than put it into a cool dark place for twenty days.

There was also some new information about the warhorses that were being donated to Animalia after the Spring Carnival. The reason they were trained for battle was so they could perform stunts in medieval style action movies, even though horses didn't have as much purpose in modern/contemporary warfare.

There were also several demonstrations of medieval siege weapons as part of the Renaissance Fair, from the torsion catapult to the siege cannon. While most of them were as accurate as possible, some things still needed modern devices to get them to work quickly. Fortunately a man dressed up as the current Doctor Who was able to provide things like modern day winches for the torsion catapult, for example. To help explain his abilities, he passed himself off as a time-traveling "wizard" from the same order as Merlin. But all together, it was amusing to see respectable history professors acting like geeks and nerds, while also showing why uplifted Animalians wouldn't make good soldiers. Above all they didn't like the atmosphere of the battlefield, from the screams, to the dying, to even the smell of burned gunpowder.
