As soon as the words left Kyle's lips Jenifer felt lightheaded and as if the floor fell away beneath her. She couldn't think straight and her vision went blurry as everything around her seemed to spin but soon enough her mind cleared and her vision returned to normal. However, her stomach dropped when she looked around her. Instead of her family's gorgeous living room, she was standing in a messy, dimly lit bedroom. She was starting to feel dizzy as panic settled in when she heard a voice from the phone she was holding up to her face.
"Well," a feminine voice giggled, "see you at school, Kyle." the voice said, dripping with malice.
Jennifer knew that voice, that was her voice. She pulled the phone away from her face and stared at the "call ended" message flashing on the screen. The screen went black and Jennifer saw her reflection: a pale, gaunt, pock-marked boy wearing horn-rimmed glasses on his large, humped nose. She let out a yelp and let the phone fall as she recoiled back and stumbled onto the unmade bed behind her.
Her legs felt like jelly as she sat down and stared at the phone lying on the carpeted floor.
"No no no no no, this can't be!" she muttered to herself. She didn't move here eyes from the phone, afraid that she'd somehow catch another glimpse of her new body.
"Kyle, honey?" a voice came from behind the door, "Is everything okay?"
Jennifer could't answer, she was petrified.
"Sweetie, I'm coming in." A homely looking woman opened the door and stepped inside, "You're going to be late for school, are you feeling alright?"
She looked at Jennifer with concerned eyes and Jennifer stared back as her brain started processing what was happening.
