A brilliant flash of white blinded Laura as the magic surrounded her, blinking her eyes Laura gazed around her office in shock. “I’m back,” she whispered. Looking over herself Laura sighed in relief. Laura was her old self again, the small child she was only moments ago once again existed only him memory.
“Laura,” Kaitlin called. Laura watched as Kaitlin burst into the office, like herself she was once again her adult self. “It worked,” she squealed. “We’re back to normal.”
“Yeah and back in the office,” she sighed. “How did we get back here. Do you think the old man sent us here after he fixed us.”
Kaitlin shrugged as she pulled a chair up to Laura’s desk. “Your Guess is as good as mine,” she said. “Personally I’ve never been so glad to be old ever.” Laura laughed as she looked at her friend, she was feeling the same. After reliving their youth in such a bizarre manor she had a new found appreciation for her age. Sighing she leaned backwards in her chair, as she did she noticed an odd package on her desk.
“Kaitlin what’s that,” she asked, trying to keep her fear under control. Kaitlin stared at the package tentatively before slowly picking it up. “No clue,” she mumbled. “But There’s a note on it addresses to both us.”
Laura and Kaitlin looked at eachother before slowly opening the note.
“Dear Laura and Kaitlin,” the note read. “Hope your happy to be back to your old selves. Unfortunately the Regressing Lots can be a bit unpredictable. Hopefully you haven’t completely given up on magic.”
“Is the old man apologizing,” Kaitlin asked. Laura shrugged unsure of exactly what the note was trying to convey. “No idea but there’s more,” she said.
“After meeting you two briefly I’ve come to a realization,” they read. “You may not wish to become young on a permanent basis, however the idea of recapturing your youth for perhaps a weekend might be something you two may be interested in. I’ve enclosed an item you may find interesting.”
Laura slowly picked up a pair of small hourglasses one glowing gold while the other glowed silver. “These two magical hourglasses will only you to control your ages in a more controlled fashion. Consider them a gift and I do hope to see you again in the future. Remember magic is what makes the world fun.”
Laura placed the note on the desk as she gazed at the small hourglasses in her hand. “So it looks like he gave us a gift for all our trouble,” she whispered. Kaitlin nodded as she picked up the silver hourglass. “Wow so we have actual magic now.”
Laura nodded still stunned as she looked over her own hourglasses. Smiling she now looked up from her desk giving Kaitlin an impish look. “Well Kaitlin,”she smirked. “It’s Friday, we got the whole weekend ahead of us. What do you say we give these things a try.”
Kaitlin smiled as she held her own hourglass out in front of her. “Like the way you think Laura,” she said. “No time like the present. Besides we’re not getting any younger.”
“Not yet at least,” Laura said causing the two women to laugh as they turned their hourglasses.
