"Uh..." Mary gazed at her friend's chest as she thought.
"Yes? You have an idea?" Aisha asked, folding her arms. "What are you looking at?" Aisha lifted her arm and glanced down at her breasts, which had already shrunken back about a cup size. "Oh."
Mary rubbed the back of her neck. "Well, I guess that problem solved itself."
"Problem?" Aisha asked, incredulous.
Mary held a hand up. "Okay, it wasn't a problem, ay? Still, still. So much for that trip to the mall-" She faltered, biting her lip. "Wait, I think I have another idea now. What if it's some time thing?"
"What are you getting at?" Aisha demanded. She was a little dejected at the loss of her new assets, and she realized her shirt was most definitely ruined; her own lackluster size left the strained material of her geeky shirt sagging. At least she wasn't showing as much skin around her midriff. Aisha shivered. What had she been thinking, walking around the house like that?
Mary reached over and took Aisha's wrist, reading her watch. "It's 10:26. What time did the bus arrive?"
Aisha nodded her head, starting to piece together Mary's new train of thought. "It came at around 10:00, I think. Maybe a little later. I remember it arrived a little late. Do you think it has something to do with the time?"
Mary shrugged, sticking her hands in her pockets. "Well, yeah. I mean, it's been 12 hours. That's like half a day. Kinda significant, I guess."
Aisha lifted the delicate silver chain from around her neck. They were still figuring this thing out- there was no telling exactly how it worked, but whatever that was it would be easier to later understand if she wasn't wearing it.
Mary closed her eyes, rubbing her temples with both hands. "Okay, what do we have so far?"
"We know it's the medallion, probably," Aisha answered, counting off on her fingers. "There's enough incidental evidence for us to draw that conclusion. Additionally, we can reasonably say that it's clothing contact that causes it, given that I believe it was the girl's bra that touched the medallion. Now we're thinking it has something to do with a time limit, so it could either last a particular time or work only once every 12 hours, since it was technically touching my shirt just now." Aisha took a breath. That was a mouthful.
Mary opened her eyes again, getting back on track. "Uh huh. Sooo... we should make sure it's clothing. And also figure out whether it's a time limit or a once per 12 hours thing. Here, gimme the medallion."
Aisha tossed her friend the medallion, who caught it warily. Aisha coughed. "Sorry, I shouldn't be throwing that around."
"You think?" Mary shook her head smirking, eyes scanning over the detailed surface. "We may be ready to start trying stuff to figure this thing out completely. So now that we're back to that... what's first?" Mary's blue eyes seemed to pierce through Aisha, who had to consider a moment before answering.
