Kellie knew she screwed up bad. She knew Lisa better, she should have trusted her more. But mostly, Kellie was kicking herself for not seeing Mary as the monster she really was. And if she was going to make it up with Katie, she had to be as honest as possible. So she told Katie all about the timeline she originally came from, how their group of friends originally was like. She didn't get too particular about how she got herself kicked out of the timeline, but she told of how she had been in other realities before she finally returned. And she had wanted to be back in her group of friends again.
"So, you thought Misery was supposed to one of our friends?" asked Katie bitterly.
"I didn't know how bad she was," said Kellie, "It was like, I dunno, Batman going to another dimension where it looks like Superman has been brainwashed into becoming an evil overlord only to find out he was evil on his own."
"Interesting analogy," said Katie dryly.
"Look, it just looked like to me that Mary was the victim. She looked so alone and the other girls seemed so spiteful without reason to her. I thought once I helped patch things up, we could get things back to normal. When I heard Lisa interfering, I thought she was just being too aggressive like with Ann," said Kellie.
"How do you know about Ann?" demanded Katie.
Kellie up her ring hand and said, "I've got a ring too. I could see what she did. And when Lisa attacked me, I just assumed the worst about her behavior. I was such an idiot. How could I not see that Mary was playing the victim?"
"That's what she does," said Katie, "You're not the first one she got to sympathize with her. She's not an outward bully, she's a manipulator, toying with other people's emotions and getting them to do things she wants. All while making them thinking they're doing the right thing."
"Reminds me a lot of Morgan," said Merlin grimly.
"Morgan le Fay?" asked Kellie.
"You mean the witch from the King Arthur stories?" asked Katie.
"Just making a literary comparison," said Merlin. Kellie briefly wondered about that. Whenever she had asked him about King Arthur and the legends around him, he was usually quite open. But when Morgan le Fay was mentioned, he became more tight-lipped and gave brief accounts about her.
"Anyways, even if you got manipulated by Misery, you still threatened Lisa. With your ring, no less," said Katie.
"I know, it was stupid," said Kellie, "I'm really sorry with that. I should never gone as far as I did. I promise I won't use it against her at all."
"You still terrified her," said Katie, "She was too shaken to even speak to me."
Kellie just covered her face with her hands and said, "Ugh, I made such a mess of things. I just wish I could do this day over again."
"Ahem, remember what I said about wishes," said Merlin in a warning tone. Kellie gave him a nervous look. "No, nothing's going to happen this time, but careless wishing is not something anyone with magic should do."
Katie sighed and said, "Kellie, I am still mad at you and I'm gonna stay mad for a while. But I don't think what you did was unforgivable."
"So, I didn't blow my one chance of being friends with you?" asked Kellie.
"I think you still have a chance, but don't think it's going to be easy," said Katie, "You're going to have to make up for what you've done."
"And where do I start with that?" asked Kellie.
"Well, I was willing to not use the ring on Misery. I knew she was bad news, but I didn't think she deserved it. Now, I think she definitely deserves it," said Katie.
"Uh, I'm not sure abusing the rings is the best answer," said Kellie.
"You do realize that she knows about your ring and she will be a big problem now, right?" pointed out Katie.
"She isn't wrong there," said Merlin, "You thought you were helping a friend, and that's not a shame. But now an enemy knows about your ring."
"You're not suggesting we make her a kid, do you?" asked Kellie.
"Not necessarily, but perhaps a start-over for her will make her a better person," said Merlin, "Though it is possible to just make her forget about what she's seen this day."
"Could we do that for Lisa too?" asked Kellie.
"Don't touch Lisa," said Katie in a warning tone.
"I just want to undo what I did to her," said Kellie.
"Let's focus more on the Mary issue before seeing to Lisa," said Merlin.
