Surprise Encounter

added by SomePerson 5 years ago BM

Once inside the park, you notice the large presence of trees along the path; a dense forest on either side of you. The cool air is gentle and comforting, drawing you deeper into the park.

The shifting green refelctions of leaves on the ground projected by the bright sky onto the ground dance about your feet, soothing you. This place of peace may have been great for you to contemplate your issues at home and at work in solitude, but here your troubles seemed to melt away. With nothing to think on, you get lost in staring at your beautiful surroundings. The sameness of the forest around you blends together, and you have no idea how long you’ve been walking. This, however, doesn’t occur to you; rather, you only become more and more distracted. You hardly notice anything around you anymore, lost in the rhythm of each step you take. Left, right. Left, right. Left, right. Left, right.

Having walked so far, the native wildlife has noticed you. One particular creature has followed behind you for your whole journey. Realizing how distracted you are, the small creature — no larger than a baby mouse — scampers up a tree. It jumps between branches, from tree to tree, until it is well ahead of you on a branch hanging over the path. You inevitably walk under this branch, and the creature leaps down only inches ahead of you.

Your calm walk has continued without interruption for so long that, when one arrives, you can hardly react. A flash of black and white bolts down from above, and it sprays something in your face as it passes. You cringe and choke at the putrid scent which cloaks your face, stuck to you. Your vision blurs with tears, blinding you; though, even a blind man could tell that he was just sprayed by a skunk.

The miniature skunk wastes no time taking advantage of your discombobulation, raising its rump higher than before and straining to release a cloud of spray larger than you. The thick mist engulfs you in seconds, overwhelming you with inescapable fog. You close your eyes to protect them from the spray. Breathing heavily after coughing so much, you heave much of the spray into your mouth and lungs, tasting the rancid stench which had formerly seemed so small on your face. You lose your balance, fall over, and your eyes stay closed.

The skunk — hardly able to view the spactacle of your struggle itself for having been obscured by the fog of spray — simply waited to hear a dull thud and for the gentle breeze to blow the mist away. On the path you lay, face-down. The skunk stoically wriggled into one of your pant legs, crawled along your bare skin, struggled under your boxers, and crawled up your ass. It settled deep in your bowels and began to release even more spray than the fog which had knocked you out before.
