Sophia and Aaron had been roommates for about 18 months now. Sophia was studying at a culinary school in northern Rhode Island while Aaron was was an art student, working online and paying bills with a part time job at a local coffee shop. They were connected by a mutual friend.
Sophia was about 5’6”, had golden/auburn long hair that she typically held a flower or two in when not working. She had a pair of thick glasses that sat just past her brooding brown eyes and slightly up-turned nose. She did her best to keep in shape despite her prodominant pear-ish figure she inherited from her family. She was driven and intelligent but still knew how to have a good time when needed.
Aaron spent most of his time at home, if not at work. Although he had few close friends he was flirty and quirky with all of them. He stood at 5’5” and liked to fight with Sophia frequently over who was taller. He was never in the best of shape but far from any definition of obese. He had dark brown hair kept trim that would tint gold when spending too much time in the sun, and had hopes of one day being an art teacher at high schools and elementary schools.
Their relationship wasn’t romantic, and Sophia made sure to keep it that way. She had just come out of a long term relationship when they first moved in together and wasn’t comfortable diving in head first with the first stranger she encountered. Regardless, over time they’d confess general attraction for each other (granted Aaron was drunk at the time after a late night at a buddy’s bachelor party). They didn’t have a label but the closest name for them would be “friends with benefits”. Sophia found their relationship much more open and had been seeing a girl named Hailee (an hourglass-shaped, blonde, lesbian woman). She knew this would crush Aaron if he found out so she does her best to keep it a secret.
One early Saturday morning, Sophia woke up with no work or school. Without any plans she walked out of her room yawning to see Aaron unconscious on his pull out couch in a mountain of blankets. She sat down on the bed careful not to wake him and turned on the PlayStation, keeping the volume low.
Sun spilled through the curtains and blinds, filling the westward end of the living room. Sophia was beginning to contemplate breakfast when their door bell rang. Aaron rolled over groaning and fell back to sleep. Tossing the controller to a pillow near Aaron’s head, Sophia got up to answer the door, hoping it wasn’t anybody important who would see her in her pj’s.
But when she opened the door...
