You need a better view of the situation and you're not going to get one here on the ground.
You find a tree with some low-hanging branches and begin climbing. You climb as far up the tree
as you can, but it's more tiring work than you had imagined and you have to stop on a large
branch. As you rest, you look around, but you are still have a way to go before you can see
anything. As you are starting back up the tree, you notice that your fingernails have grown long
and black. They must also be sharp because they dig easily into the bark of the tree. A sharp pain
draws your attention to your backside and you whip your head around just in time to see a
grey-furred tail snake its way out of your pants. As you turn your attention back to the tree, you
notice that the branch which used to be at eye level is now about a foot above your head. Your
fingers are now long and thin and fine, short fur is growing up your arms.
With a gasp of surprise, you realize that you have been supporting yourself using only your
hands due to the fact that your legs have shrunken off the branch they were standing on. Your
shoes and socks have fallen off and you notice that your feet sport the same claws as your hands.
You wriggle your toes and realize that they are now much more dexterous. You dig your rear
claws into the tree as your face begins to push out and you continue to shrink. Walking your
claws up the tree, you realize that your clothes are starting to pull you down so you momentarily
release your claws and let your pants slip off and walking your new paws inward and climbing up
towards the next branch, you free yourself from your shirt. Your body is completely furred and
your head is not far behind as your ears finish reforming. When you reach the next branch, your
transformation to a squirrel completes and a sound comes from behind you. You jump and turn
around in a move that could only have been done by a squirrel.
"Hey, sorry I couldn't warn you about all this." It's another squirrel.
"Who are you," you say.
"Another lost soul who got trapped in this tree, but there is a way out. Unfortunately for me, I
found out too late, but you can still make it. Come here, I'll tell you what you have to do..."
