Usually, AFV involved videos caught on home cameras, but Animalia's Funniest Videos also involved things that were caught by newsgroups, especially from Mieni Atoll and/or the Lost City of Vilcabamba, or simply Vilcabamba.

One fine example was where someone covering Spring at Mieni Atoll had a few too many drinks, stumbled into the bathroom, hit his head upon the "porcelain altar", as it's sometimes known, and prays to the divines associated with it for the rest of the night. While it didn't win the $10,000, it was mentioned in the Honorable Mentions.

There was also one from Vilcabamba about how one drunk tried to associate/fraternize with one of the Brazilian archaeologists that was supervising the dig site before passing out. She decided to get revenge on the would be lothario by arranging him so that he was embracing one of the mummy bundles from the dig site, and then filming when he finally came to.

Another really funny one was the fulfilling of the promise to get the picture of the "lute wedgie in mid-greensleeves". One nerd got a little to into the medieval cosplay and ended up with his long-necked lute down the back of his green medieval-era tights. One, and perhaps the only good thing that resulted from it was that that nerd was going to reconsider dropping out of music class.

Perhaps the funniest one was where four "jocks" from UNLV got hit with a collective revenge arranged by the girls of UNLV and perpetrated by Anne Cumbertin and Countess Irena. The idea for the prank was to get the four together on one sofa, slowly turn off all the lights to make things "really cozy" then use special night vision cameras to get the guys making out with what they thought was the girls that promised to arrive. Janice kind of ruined it when she turned on the light with the old "what are you doing in the dark?" revelation, but the expressions of the guys when they realized what they were about to do more than made up for it.

The results for the winners for the prizes were as follows: John Tucker Must Die 2: Blinded by the Light in 3rd Place; The Mummy: Revenge of the Jaguar Queen (from Vilcabamba) in 2nd; and the $10,000 1st place winner was Caught between Nessie and a Sea Serpent (Ty pursuing haggis that was in another guy's possession, and the guy nearly crashing into Nessa). Nessa had already decided to give her share of the $10,000 to Iphis, Ianthe, Ty, and Lily for their future offspring because the bagpipe band that had their picture taken with her was going to use it as an album cover and give her 33% of the sales that resulted.
