Tony was chatting with a girl in a goth costume, when he heard a hypnotic tune. Across the room, Rudy Valenz was cranking his great grandfather's hurdy gurdy while a battery powered monkey hopped around on the floor.
"The costume would be better if I had a real monkey," Rudy explained as he ground out a carnival tune on the box hanging from the leather strap around his neck.
Tony was mesmerized and staring only at the organ grinder, he plowed like a freight train through the crowd sending guests sprawling on the keesters. He stopped and sat down the moment Rudy stopped cranking. Unfortunately he sat on the mechanical monkey.
Tony the ape sat there with glazed eyes staring off into oblivion. A trickle of drool ran from his lips.
"Very funny! You busted my monkey!"
A dazed Tony blinked and he stood up, and saw the damaged toy beneath his massive bulk. He picked up the tin cup and little red hat to hand awkwardly to Rudy. "Oh, Rude, I'm really sorry man, just got a little too in to playing Gor-rilla."
"Tony? Hehe, why don't you put the cap on and I'll get a leash and you can be my monkey!"
"Uh, Rudy, I--" and Rudy began cranking his hurdy gurdy again. The music instantly had Tony swaying to the carnival beat. He put the cap on and started going around the room collecting coins for Rudy. The more Rudy played the more entranced Tony became. There was a part of him that tried to resist the hypnotic melody, but that aspect of him seemed to be getting smaller and weaker by the minute.
After Rudy and Tony won the prize for the best costume/act. Rudy decided to go home. Tony still mesmerized following Rudy out of the Tolliver's house. Rudy had already realized that Tony was not acting but really hypnotized, and he decided to take advantage of his new power over Tony.
