Ethan and Scott opened the door, and stepped into Luke's bedroom. Luke, Mark, and Max stood still, not moving a muscle of their wide conjoined three-headed body. But they were surprised: their dads were conjoined, too!
That's right. Ethan and Scott were now a two-headed man. Ethan's head was on their left-hand side and Scott's on their right. Their body was wider, with a shirt that had holes for two heads. The two dads seemed to be perfectly coordinated, and did not seem to notice that they were now sharing a body.
"What's going on in here, boys?" Ethan asked.
The closet door was closed, so fortunately the dads could not see all the new and magical clothes that Luke had just gotten.
"Uh, nothing," Mark said.
"We were just talking...dads," Max said.
"About what?" Scott asked. It seemed that neither he nor Ethan paid much attention to the boys' shared clothes.
Wanting to test something, Luke replied, "About how strange it would be if we were three boys with one head each."
The dads chuckled at this. Apparently, they actually believed that Luke, Mark, and Max had always been conjoined triplets.
"You boys have been wondering that for nearly eighteen years now," Ethan smiled, "ever since the day you were born."
"That's our sons," Scott said as he rubbed their heads with his one arm.
"Your moms are downstairs cooking dinner," Ethan said. "Would you like to spend a little time with your siblings?"
"Maybe in a minute," Luke said as he looked to Mark and Max. "We still need to talk a little more."
Getting the message, Mark and Max agreed. Ethan and Scott then turned around and walked back out into the hall. The boys shut the bedroom door, listening to make sure there was no one in earshot. Then, they turned their heads to each other.
"What is going on here?" Mark asked. "Why were our dads conjoined?"
"And why didn't they seem freaked out by that or us?" Max asked.
"I wonder if it has something to do with the magic in these clothes," Luke replied. "Max, where did you put down that letter from the closet?"
Max reached out his/their left arm towards the desk to grab Santa's letter. They found something that said there was a special magic that could and would do anything to keep anyone inside the clothes from being discovered or found out in that form, including adjusting reality. Apparently, this fail-safe had done so, making Ethan and Scott into conjoined twins, and Luke, Mark, and Max into their conjoined triplet sons. Perhaps this also meant that if the boys wished to change back into three teens, reality would change back with them. They did not exactly know how to change back, but perhaps it was described in the letter.
At the same time, the three boys were curious to know just how much of reality had been changed.
