Karen woke up soon after her parents left. "Mom? Dad?" She called out. No one was in the home at the time to answer her. She wandered around the home only to find that everyone was gone. She found a note on the fridge that read, "Gone to the police station to take care of phone. Stay home and don't let anyone in. - Dad."
She sighed as she realized that today might be a rather boring day. Trapped in her home once again, but she could understand why. On the run from the Gamboni family, she knew it was necessary. The mere thought of being with Marcus made her shiver. Seeing that she was going to be bored at home again, she made her way back to her bedroom to turn on her laptop. After connecting to the internet, she opened up her email. The first email she got was from Samantha Twist.
"I got the information you wanted. Don't share this with anyone. -S"
Karen noticed the PDF attachment and opened it up. As promised, there was information about the various feline weres that she could be. Karen first saw all of the information about werecats, but after reading the description of them, she decided that she really didn't want to be a werecat. She was certain that she liked boys, and didn't want to swing that way. She then read about weretigers. She looked at the picture and noticed the beautiful striped coat that they wore. She then noticed the spotted coat of a wereleopard, and she almost fell in love with how their coat looked as well. Werelions were an interesting choice as well. While they didn't have the fancy coats that the weretigers or wereleopards had, they had their own charm that attracted her.
She continued to read more about the weres, and the more she read, the more she liked what she was reading. Increased speed, increased endurance, increased strength, and razor sharp teeth and claws. She took a moment to pretend that her hand was a paw with claws, and swiped the air as if she were slashing Marcus's throat. For most of her teenage life, she'd been on the run ever since Marcus had his eyes on her. She spent the past few years on the run, moving from town to town, trying to stay one step ahead of the Gamboni family. And she was tired of it all. She wanted to settle down. She wanted to make friends. She wanted to laugh and love. And dare she say it, she wanted a boyfriend too. But she couldn't do any of that thanks to the Gamboni family.
She then determined that was going to change. No more running. No more hiding. She was going to stay in this town and have a (relatively) normal teenage life. If that meant changing herself to do it, she would. When her parents came back home, she'll have a talk with them and convince them to stay in this town. If someone needed to be the family were, she'll volunteer herself.
