Officer Leprune sat at his desk a bit frustrated with the events of last night. On his desk was the official autopsy report for Alice Decrux. Cause of death: Massive blunt force trauma as a result of being in the car as it tumbled down the cliff. Even if she was a were, it was too much for her body to handle. While weres were stronger and more durable than normal humans, there was a limit as to what the body could take. But what frustrated Officer Leprune was that wereraccoon escaped justice once again.
Ever since she turned his brother and tried to saddle him with child support payments, Office Leprune had his eyes on Alice. He quietly bided his time, waiting for Alice to make a mistake. Up until recently, she had been very careful to stay on the right side of the law. Yet, recently, she had made a few slips. First when she got into a fight with Virginia McCoy and tried to frame her for a Statute 1A violation. The other was at the Halloween dance when she spiked the punch with her aphrodisiac. While her plan almost worked, she left a few traces that almost got her. And then...she tried to run. He sighed as he rubbed his forehead.
"Everything fine?" he heard a voice behind him ask.
"Chief?" he asked as he turned around to see Chief O'hara standing behind him.
"I'm asking if everything's fine. You look a bit...tense."
"Sorry," Leprune said as he sighed, "It's just...Alice Decrux got away again."
"It's a bit frustrating, I can understand that. We've had our eye on her for a long time now." The chief took a quick look at the files on Officer Leprune's desk. "At the very least, we can take comfort in that she won't take advantage of anyone else. No one else is going to be taken advantage of because of her."
"Cold comfort for my brother...or anyone else who's been hurt by her," Leprune replied, his voice low as he averted his eyes away.
The chief briefly pursed his lips and said, "It is what it is. Listen, it's been a long night for you. I'd like you to go home and get some rest. Someone else can take care of this."
"I suppose you have a point," said Officer Leprune as he reached over for his jacket. Chief O'Hara gathered all the files on the desk. His mind thought of all the people he'd need to tell. There was her lawyer, Bob Bennett and the only living relative in town, Megan Decrux. He gave a heavy sigh as he wondered how Megan would take the news...
