Tim sat on his bed, looking at the blue ring with strange markings on it that he had purchased less than an hour ago.
Back at the strange shop, where he had purchased the admittedly very finely-crafted artifact, the old man behind the counter had offered him a bevy of other odd things. An amulet that did this. A bracelet that did that. A pair of socks that could even do this OR that. But Tim had settled for the ring, which set him back fifty dollars in cash.
He was skeptical, but still curious. And very much hoping he hadn’t wasted his money on a gag. Back at the shop, the old man had said that the ring, when worn by anyone, could turn the user into anything he or she desired, and could then teleport them to anywhere in the world to boot after they had transformed. Once the user changed into whatever he or she wanted and transported wherever they wanted, the ring would dissaparate into thin air and the user could return to normal with the ring returning back on their finger just by wishing for such a thing to happen.
It sounded amazing. The chance to become anything? Go anywhere? Just by willing it? Not thinking in the moment, Tim handed over the money without hesitation and took the ring home, where he was now. He was curious why the old man would give him such a powerful item for such a small price in exchange for such ultimate power. Unless of course, it was a scam.
