"Hi Mum and Dad" I called out as I entered the house. I put my bag in the room and walked down to the kitchen. Mum was watching TV. I could see the light on in Dad's shed.
Mum said "There is a meal on the bench you could microwave". She then noticed my hair. "A perm, I'm surprised. But you do look nice with curly hair"
"Did you still want to see the dress I had in mind?"
"Yes, but eat your dinner first. This show is nearly finished"
She returned to her show while I microwaved my meal, a stir fry and ate. When I had finished I returned to my room and put on the black dress. I returned to the lounge and watched the end of the show with Mum. When the credits came on she turned the TV off and told me to get up.
"That's very nice. Where did you get that from?"
"I bought it online"
"Jenna all these new clothes and now a perm. You really need to budget. You are living beyond your means"
"Mum, everything is under control. I am not in debt and Millicent has said I have the job for another 6 months"
"Well I would like you to have a budget but that can wait. What accessories are you planning to wear with that dress?"
"I don't know, Perhaps you could give me advice. Should I wear a hat?"
"Yes you could wear a hat. But we would have to wait for you hair to settle down before you start trying them on. Do you have one that would be suitable?”
“Come to Monique's room and I'll show you what I have" We went to the room. I stood on a chair and retrieved the hats from the shelf.
"I see you have had you nails done as well. That mauve hat could look nice, perhaps with a black ribbon on it. Otherwise the black hat you wore to Mum's funeral" I assumed she was talking about her own mother’s funeral. There were two black hats on the bed. I didn't know which one she meant. Something else to ask Sarah.
"Should I wear black shoes and stockings?"
"Yes, black heels but no more than 3 inches"
"I can do that. Anything else you suggest?"
"Not too much jewellery, but a brooch would look nice. Actually I think a brooch of your grandmothers would be perfect. Let me show you. I followed her into her bedroom and into her walk-in closet. She had as many dresses as I did. She opened a drawer full of jewellery and pulled out a white bag. She opened it to reveal a large silver brooch in the shape of a peacock. The eyes looked like diamonds and the tail had numerous clear and mauve stones in it.
"This is actually white gold, the stones are diamonds and amethysts. I will lend it to you just for the funeral"
"Wow, thanks Mum" It was beautiful
"Oh, while we are here, would you like to borrow my turban? I no longer need it" She reached into a shelf and handed me a white silky feeling hat. I had no idea what it was for.
'Thanks again Mum...... Good night" A phone call to Sarah was needed.
I returned to the room and rang Sarah. "Mum has just given me a white turban for some reason. What am I meant to do with it?"
"Wear it to bed so you don't ruin your perm. At least for the 1st few nights. Gently just tuck your hair in. Remember not to brush for a few days. Just shake the curls out. And when you have your shower don't get it wet"
.............
In bed I read Jenna's journal up to her 17th birthday. In that 5 month period she had gone through another 3 boyfriends including another of my basketball mates Steve. Steve was a nice guy and a good friend. I had not realized he and Jenna had ever been together. It sounded like Steve was a decent size down below, but she still moved on when she thought a better prospect was available. This was not including an episode during a holiday at Ocean Grove where it sounded like 4 surfers had her at the same time, she proudly called it her first gang bang
Her relationship with Sarah and Monique had worsened. Sarah was now "Snotface" and Monique "The Bitch". It was actually depressing reading. Jenna was such a slut and she seemed proud of it. The problem was I was now Jenna.
