After a bit of struggling, the conjoined boys managed to get up on their two feet and walk--or stumble--to the basement stairs. They slowly walked up the stairs at first, still getting used to sharing a body. But as they kept going, they found that they were getting used to it. They made it to the top, and looked towards the front door.
There was a great mess between the stairs and the door. Tables and chairs had been knocked over, the pictures had been damaged, and there was a stain near what looked like the site of a crash: neither of the boys wanted to know for sure if that liquid was saliva or...
Anyway, Ric and Josh did not know if they should go to the door and look outside: others may see that the two were conjoined, even with the pair fully clothed. Then, their eyes fell upon something that was lying near the crash site and the stain--it was the book! The two were so excited that they almost lost balance heading towards the book.
After finding the correct spell, the boys were able to change back into two separate bodies, each with just one head. Now all they had to do was find Mr. Mendes.
"Do you think we can undo...whatever that is?" Josh asked.
"Well, I think we have to find him first," Ric answered.
"Why?" Josh said.
"He gained those extra legs when we directed the spell at him," Ric said. "Maybe if we direct the next one at him, he will change back."
"But how did he change into that creature?' Josh asked. "I'm pretty sure that wasn't part of the spell."
"We can figure that out later," Ric replied. "We have to go find him now!"
Josh agreed, and the two boys ran outside. It would be easy to find Mr. Mendes with the trail of damage that was left behind.
