"It does anything you want!" Elise finished, giving Edwin a smile.
Edwin frowned, as the light died down. "So, what was that whole light show about? I don't feel any different."
"Well, the ring has to be bound to its Master! That right now was it making a contract with you!" Elise explained.
".... a contract?" Edwin asked. "This thing is alive?"
"Well, in a sense...." Elise said. "Think of it as like one of those magical objects from a video game."
"Hmm." Edwin said. "So it's not alive, but it has the ability to have to do things for itself, huh?"
Elise nodded. "Yep! It'll pay close attention to what you say, and do just that!"
"Oh really?" Edwin said, growing tired of this whole magic stuff. "I'm sorry, but I don't believe in rings that can just magically TRANSFORM me into a bird, for example."
The ring glowed, however, just as Edwin said that. "Huh?" He let out, his hands feeling funny.
To his surprise, red and blue feathers began to sprout out of them, budding from his arms and hands all the way up to his shoulders.
"What is this?" Edwin asked, beginning to pluck them out, only for them to be rapidly replaced. His bones began to hollow out, as his arms began to bend inwards, forming wings.
Feathers began to spread throughout his whole body, with the exception of his legs. However, down there, his skin began to be covered by a new gray, hard layer, his feet shrinking to remain with 3 clawed toes.
His body then began to shrink immensely, his clothes beginning to bury him. As the feathers spread to his head, he felt his skull reshaped itself, a beak emerging from his head.
When it was all done, he had been turned into a red and blue macaw. He tried to speak, but all that came out was a squawk.
"Oh no!" Elise said, bending over him. "Are you okay?"
