Animalia Magazine: Merry May Flowers Edition

added by makutamon 7 years ago O

The May issue of Animalia Magazine was called the Merry May Flowers edition, as a kind of follow-up to the April Showers Edition. But it was still filled with the usual amount of humor and information that was expected from it.

---

As Mother's Day was in May, an article about raising infant to early childhood Animalians. This was important because of many Animalians being born in Summer, which would help their parents learn how to deal with some things that human parents wouldn't otherwise deal with.

---

There was also a list of historical events and birthdays that happened in May, some of them were rather surprising, others were saddening to Animalians. The fact that the founding of Jamestown, VA, the start of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, and the creation of the Smallpox vaccine all happened on the 14th of May, but were separated by several centuries made interesting conversations.

---

There were also maps of the two newest Animalia Colonies in Kenya and Egypt, named Maelewano and New Zerzura. The Article that featured New Zerzura also explained where Ahmose II's tomb was located, but warned that the tomb was now being watched over by the Anubian Guards: Jackal Animalians who dyed their fur black in accordance to both their leader, and their divine "patron" Anubis. It was a little unnerving to see them, not including the fact that they all had heavyweight body builds.

---

There was also a schedule for the official unveiling of Project Dinotopia and it's activities. While there was a bit of a waiting list for those wanting to join, even if they wanted to help document new species for "research", but those with conditions that were treatable by the virus AND document new species were moved to the top of the list.

One unintentional, yet highly amusing, result was Regina's case. Regina was in the same "class" as Heather and Jeremy, but was one of the "unpopular/uncool" high school/college people who happen to appear in late 90s-early 2000s sitcoms like Boy meets World or Growing Pains, which wasn't helped by her habit of "snorting" while laughing, and certainly wasn't helping that she was suffering from moderate quadriplegia. She had decided to become a Spinosaurus Dinotopian because they still didn't have data on dinosaurs with large sails on their backs. Spending some time catching up with Jeremy seemed to spark some "predatory territorialism" in Heather, but the insults before any real cat-fighting (or dino-fighting) seemed to interest a visiting SyFy representative, who managed to convince them to "save it for the TV". But what also resulted was that the official unveiling of the Mesozoic Fight Club finally got their Spinosaurus Vs. T-Rex match that almost everyone who had seen the Jurassic Park Series were demanding to see, although it was listed as Indominus Vs. Spinosaurus, both for the official records and the advertising poster.

This was also the inspiration for the Fact Vs. Fiction article that appeared in the May magazine, which talked about movies and comparing them to real facts. The fact that they used the Jurassic Park series for their inaugural article appearance helped debunk many myths about dinosaurs that the series seemed to perpetuate.

Another part of the Fact Vs. Fiction article was in response to the rising number of internet posts from the "tin hat society" on how Animalia was getting closer and closer to world domination. This article talked about outrageous conspiracy theories about world domination, from secret societies like the Illuminati, to aliens controlling the minds of world leaders, followed by real facts, both historical and otherwise, that debunked many of those theories. One of the most amusing ones was how many conspiracy theorists analyzing the Mayan calendar seemed to think that the winter solstice of 2012 would mark the end of the world as we know it, not knowing that that wasn't how it went in Mayan culture, and how reexamination showed that the Mayan long count calendar was simply starting over on that date.

---

All together, the May issue of Animalia Magazine gave a lot to look forward to, and plenty of humor to chase away the last of the winter grey.
