You look around and notice that a new giraffe exhibit has opened called the, "Giraffe Conservation Exhibit"
You figure that it was simply the old giraffe exhibit refurbished and centered more around creating awareness for the species. You did hear on the news that the giraffe population was starting to diminish for reasons still being investigated, but it was clear it was declining enough to change from a vulnerable status to endangered.
Deciding it would be worth the time to learn more about the issue and to see the giraffes, you decided to head there first, following the signs as well as a giraffe spotted trail leading to the exhibit.
Once you arrive, you notice how much larger an exhibit it was than any you've seen before, with a dome surrounding the center and the back leading to a fenced off area outside for the giraffes to roam.
It also appeared the exhibit was just opening as you notice a well sized crowd of adults and children gathering at the door before spilling in. Not wanting to waste any more time, you follow right in with them. You counted yourself lucky as it seemed to be limiting a certain amount of people in at a time to avoid overcrowding the center.
Stepping inside, you immediately note the arid heat and wild dry smell hit you, pushing you back a step. It must have been some work making sure the place had superb climate control to mimic an actual African environment. At least that's what you figured when you read the sign that informed you of the system.
Walking around, you see various displays and dioramas being crowded by kids and adults alike, sharing a variety of information on giraffes, from their diet and habitat to their top running speed and biology. You even learned that their "horns" are actually called "ossicones".
Speaking of which, you notice that nearly everyone in the exhibit had their own pair of ossicones on their heads! Did they pass them out earlier? And they looked so realistic poking through everyone's hair! As you think about it, you fail to notice the stretching feeling on the top of your own head as your own pair of ossicones push through your hair, nor do you notice the family passing by growing their own.
Soon, the intercom pings out, announcing that the up close giraffe experience was about to begin. You figure it was the main event as you made your way with the crowd near the rear of the exhibit where it opened up to an amphitheater of some sort.
You find yourself a seat next to another family, none of you paying note to the new growths at the top of your heads nor the ones on the their excited son. When everyone was seated, a zoo keeper came out onto the dirt stage, her face holding a bright smile. She appeared to be a big fan of giraffes as with her uniform, she appeared to be wearing a pair of ossicones like everyone, along with giraffe ears and a tail!
"Why hello there you beautiful looking giraffes!" she said with a cheery voice. Everyone in the audience got a good laugh, even the teens and adults getting a chuckle out. "I'm sure you all wanted to see the giraffes and now's your chance! We have a very special guest coming out and he has something very special to say!"
At that remark, a giraffe then stepped out from behind the stage, walking to the middle where the zoo keeper was. You were just as pleasantly surprised as the rest of the audience who where verbally expressing their awe and applauding. They must have trained the animals so well!
"As you all know, the giraffe population has been dropping unfortunately," she says with a somber tone. Everybody including you were then hit with an almost overwhelming sensation of sadness. Sure, you thought it was a shame, but you didn't think you would cry over the situation.
"But our special guest here has the perfect solution!" she continued, regaining her cheerful tone along with the mood of everyone else. "Isn't that right?" she asks the giraffe, turning to it expectantly.
Surprisingly, the giraffe nodded! But it seemed that it was only a distraction because as soon as we awed once again at its training, its ossicones appeared to radiate some kind of wave from each one. As soon as they made contact with you and the audience, your own unnoticed ossicones began to stretch out more until they became full length accordingly to your smaller size. As they did, your mind began to grow fuzzy and open until you were in a full trance. Had you been conscious enough to look around, you would have noticed that the rest of the audience were now in trances as well, receiving the strange signals through their ossicones.
The zoo keeper smiled as her mouth began to push out into a giraffe-like muzzle and her body began sprouting short cream colored fur with dark orange splotches to match her partner's. Her tail whipped excitedly as her hands began shifting into hoof hand hybrids and her feet nearly identical to a giraffe's.
"Yes folks, we have the perfect solution and you all have been chosen to help!" the now anthro giraffe said happily.
