The next morning after Tad had left for school and Claire had left for work, Jen picked up her phone from the kitchen counter after washing the dishes. She dialed the home phone of Karen and Vivian Teller, her mothers, to try and set up a day while Tad was at school so they could meet Claire.
The phone rang a few times before Karen picked up on the other end. "Hello?"
"Hi mom," Jen said.
"Jen! Oh it's so good to hear from you love!" Karen Teller said. "How have you and Tad been? It's been a while since we last saw you."
"I'm doing fine mom, thanks for asking," Jen said. "Anyway, I'd like to know if you and mom are going to be home on Friday around lunch. Maybe...11:30?"
"Yes, we should be home then," Karen said. "Why do you ask?"
"Well...there's someone I'd like you to meet," Jen explained. "She's...She's my girlfriend."
"Oh Jen! I'm so happy for you!" Karen said happily. "Your other mother and I can't wait to meet her! You can tell us how you met and how you two became an item!"
"Sounds good mom," Jen said. "So we'll meet you at your house for lunch at 11:30 on Friday, correct?"
"Of course!" Karen said. "Love you sweetie! Can't wait to meet your new lover!"
