Summer in Animalia was stirred and vigorously, mainly because of all the special events starting with the 30th of May.

The biggest event was the official unveiling of Project Dinotopia. Not only was the music high energy, it was something to see the Dinotopians “break out” of a specially made rock wall made of special effects foam blocks and start dancing. What made it really surprising was that their skeletons were painted on their skins in black light paint. The lights started in black light for the first verse, shifted to real light for the second verse, then do a combination of the two.
The very next day was the official wedding of several bondmates that were members of Project Dinotopia, as well as the group reception. There were several cases where alcohol lead to disappointment-fueled bad behavior, but fortunately it wasn’t too painful, or bad, just amusing.

It was also the start of the UFC-A tournament prelims. Because of the fact that many Italians were in the stands, the Rhino Guard were there in force. Fortunately most of the rowdiness were confined to crazy hats, signs, and similar things.

Because of how many people, especially girls, were registered in the Animalia bare-as-you-dare competition, they had to break it down into a kind of dance contest/American Idol hybrid. First they had to break it down into singles, couples, and group dance brackets, then pit the winners of those brackets against each other on the Meat Market Stage. Fortunately, Jen was able to get in contact with a Japanese company that specialized in skimpy costumes that were in high demand on the website.

There were also another bachelor/bachelorette auction that was part of the summer events, mainly due to the popularity of the first two auctions. While there weren’t as many singles as there were at the first two, it was still a lot of fun.

The fact that humans seemed to see many events of this kind as excuses for excessive drinking, especially because Lyre and Animalia were only half a days journey from Las Vegas, the number of drunken stupidity incidents were up to the usual amounts.
One particularly amusing incident happened on Fran and Raj’s first date, when a guy tried to hit on Raj, obviously thinking that Raj was a girl in his inebriated state. His reaction to the knowledge that Raj was a guy made it even funnier.

Part of what made The inaugural competition of the A-BC one of the most looked forward to event was the fact that many of the competitors were nearly naked, with females wearing the infamous “posing pasties” that made the IAC Bodybuilding competition popular.
While the preliminaries had managed to keep the crowd relatively placated, there were still a few incidents of fanboys and fan girls getting past the bouncers and getting “handsy” on stage, as well as a few multicultural confusion incidents.
But all together, Summer in Animalia was shaping up to be quite entertaining.
